I remember cancelling my preorder last second for Portal 2, I like to say I really did dodge a Nuke.

Anyway after watching videos I found most of the games jokes to be downright offensive and outdated even by 2011 standards but that's how Duke has always been.

I've still got the collectors edition somewhere. I remember enjoying it, but it is a mediocre game at best. Not played it since it game out.

No my fault it got bundled, I already had the game and so don't need it or either the Hail to the Icons DLC or The Doctor Who Cloned Me DLC.

it was playable, not really interesting outside of its own history though. even if it was, there's no way it was ever going to live up to the hype surrounding it.

It's almost been out as long as it was in development hell (12 years out vs 14 years in development). It still doesn't even sound like it exists, because for the longest time its name was a punchline for something that would never get released.

I think I liked it more than Doom 3, but I didn't like Doom 3 at all. And the DLC campaign (The doc who cloned me or whatever) is actually legit and fixes most the problems with the main campaign.

Highlights for the game are the level/world design... they really know what they're doing here, too bad actually PLAYING it is lame

Should I play the DLC then? I never got to try that, played the base game on 360 very early on, rushed it on Easy overnight so I could return it the next day.

if you own it, then yes. It's not great at all, but if the base game is a 50/100 then the DLC is a solid 71/100

the hype killed it its not great not terrible. and dont kid yourselves with how good a game is i see what the popular games are out there.

Not worth playing. I do really enjoy the interactive environment bits and the "health is Duke's ego" schtick. It could have been great had they not cribbed COD and other modern shooters; let Duke carry every gun around so I can play with shrink rays and whatnot, rather than only carrying the machine gun and shotgun because those work and have all the ammo. And screw him hiding behind cover to regain health; he needs the second-wind mechanic from Borderlands or something.

Considering that "health is Duke's ego" this means that hiding from the enemy helps him to feel better about himself. I thought that was strange characterization.

what cover? I didn't notice any cover in the game except for the portal parody in the DLC

I have a childlike sense of humor and so playing with poop in the demo made me giggle
