Ah, so I was dead to Kirby anyways? I figured i was but I thought I'd give it the oll college try. I knew I was a little inconsistent which is why I tried to pivot ro Kirby but it was clear that wasn't going to work.

Good play by Han. I think we win pretty easily if sbell doesn't explode but that is why we are playing mafia not chess

We literally had our pick of targets with death blocked and we chose the one bad one.

Oh yeah we got stupidly unlucky

But whatever. I think this is... shockingly, a Mafia game where multiple people played well.

Refreshing indeed!

A lot of things went well for Town, and I'd say Town really played a team game there to win.

I couldn't do what I did without Ctes.
Lea was super right D1, and drew a shot that killed Scum.
Kirby managed to be right enough about Ben to survive and get Plum on last day.
Ulti was clutch in final couple of days.
Hb and Peaf did their jobs. Being confirmed Town and helping keep discussion going is always helpful.
JC I thought led pretty well end of day 2 into 3.
Sorry to Isquen and Sultan...
Cody drew an EK.
Death died.

All in all, team effort.

The Twink role was one I threw out there just because Twink and two other star spirits were on our safe list. But then when Isquen flipped and Cody made the post about sealed powers I 100% believed that was a real gimmick in the game. I don't think even the rest of the scum team believed it.

But that's really funny Cody solved the game.

Sultan and Kirby targeted scum every night
granted 3 of them were Dumey but still!

Anyway the actual balance changes weren't that much. The setup was decent out of the box which is impressive considering there was an infinite shot vig in the setup. Big thing is Mzero was too conservative with the infinite shot vig (the hammer jump mechanic was enough to slow that down) for the amount of protection in the game and it was pretty town skewed and prone to instantly ending early.

What was changed

- Lava Piranha was changed from just being able to burn anyone to having a role guessing game involved. To me this gave Bowser's role more value and made it less likely that we'd see a burn drop until night 2 or 3. Strangely scum used it in a way I didn't expect, to vanilla scan people, and hit the first try. I think it was a cool idea though.
- Mario's ability was originally identical to Luigi's stripped down version. Me and Mzero workshopped enhancements to make it more impactful even if Mario picks the wrong targets for hammer/jump.
- Star abilities were originally just unlocked-- this was all mzero's idea but I think it worked great I was just saying take them out. (Also roleblocker was jailer-- that got shut down immediately setup did not need a jailer)
- Jack was originally a watcher-- I think this would have worked but when we buffed Mario we had to weaken this one to not give town too many scans.

GG. That was a painful game for me. Not to sound too salty, but I'm pretty sure I made a list of "players flying under the radar" Day 1 and my entire scum team was on it. >_>

It's my fault for not being able to just stay quiet and let things ride, I just wish we had a little more active presence. I feel like we a couple times had a plan on the scum board of, "get this mislynch and win", but then I was the only one to really advocate for it, and Ben/Red were AFK and Plum was doing Plum things instead.

I know it probably seems like bad etiquette to come out after the game and disparage my scum team, so it's not my intent to say Plum or SBell or anyone played bad or anything! Just with the scum team we rolled, and Ben being very busy with work, I just felt very alone, and I was annoyed that I couldn't really get people to engage with me.

Also Isquen, I am sorry for "lecturing" at you if that is what made you walk away at that time. I actually DIDN'T want to lynch you there because I felt it would make me look bad. I just wanted you to claim so I could safely back off and you didn't, so I played the frustration angle instead. And then was absent for the end of day, and so wasn't able to Unvote you when people started voting you again.

Also just to be clear, since it was mentioned in game about how we shouldn't disregard scum killing people who sus them, I was not the one who wanted Lea dead at all. In fact I'm pretty sure the reason we killed Lea was just because Red said she was the most likely to lead a lynch on him early, and none of us really had any better ideas!

I would have loved to have Lea around to actually defend myself from her. The most frustrating part of Kirby sticking to me based on their role, was that I repeatedly called for action of, "can you give me any other reason I'm scum," but Kirby just got sick of me and didn't let me instigate any more (which is the objectively correct play from Kirby's standpoint lol).

Wp all, especially ctes, han, and jc.

Incredibly interesting setup, hilarious that none of the extra special parts never really triggered in a way that really swung the game.

I'm glad i didn't have to replace out. Sorry to scare you with that, mzero, I honestly wasn't sure what my availability would be like. But late game post counts are a lot lower than early game so i was able to stay mostly up to date.

Wp Kirby too, thanks for keeping my head on straight at the end. You managed me very well, in a way reminiscient of lopen handling bct and sultan a few games ago. Huge props, man.

Yeah Dumey, you brought a lot of energy as Scum. You were just in a bad position. Last couple of days, I was operating on game script more than reads and you were just in an unfortunate position. Props for the effort, though.

Yeah i felt that and was feeling like I was letting you down the whole game. The time you put in was impressive. Usually I'm more active as scum than I am as town. My work literally started blocking gamefaqs the day the game started. I don't even think it's the site, because I AM the firewall and have it white listed lol. It's just something with the ads? SSL inspection was enabled is what happened to cause this.

And then when I WAS home I was afraid to post because Kirby just knows when I'm scum and I haven't figured out how to navigate that yet. Lol. I don't know what to do about that one

This was my first time following a game - super entertaining! As others have said major props to Han and ctes for the MVP play, brilliant stuff

I have no idea why Plum got so much good will for 'saving' Peaf either

Yeah sorry i ended up having a couple meetings pop up between what ended up being very long theme park visits pop up and i definitely considered replacing out early on. I was exhausted and nearly slept away entire days.

In retrospect I should have been more forward form the beginning of day 2 but several times I was like Ben is scum and I think HB might be. And my conversation with death about Ben's Claim and if he could be scanned. I hinted very hard that I scanned Ben but no one really picked up on it

Sorry, the "engage" part was more about me struggling to get people to talk to me in topic. I had a lot of posts just ignored by people I was talking to, probably not maliciously. Han ignored me a couple times, Peaf ignored me a couple times, I asked a direct question to Red once and he ignored me, Kirby got sick of me understandably. I just felt very alone in general.

Also I thought the scum board was very inactive. >_> Maybe most scum boards are like that? Basically little to no comments during the day. I had to specifically ask people to give input on night actions multiple times because people weren't volunteering a lot of suggestions (to be clear, Plum was the most helpful with night actions). Then when I did want to theory craft, you straight up told me you didn't care and didn't want to even consider the idea. (I was wrong about it, so you may say you were right in that instance, but you still just kind of shut down any idea of talking about it.)

Maybe that is just more the norm though and I just wasn't expecting it.

I miss the days when scum team was on message board forums that were specifically designed thematically for the scum team (okay maybe that was just my games)

But yeah one time I was on a scum team with Kirby and the scum team organized a mario kart online session during one of the night phases. That was a different time!

It was strategically the wrong decision. It earned plum a lot of clout going forward, but having Isquen alive probably left more options for later mislynches.

lmao true. I think I also just liked the dynamic of being a wall for you to bounce ideas off of. I don't think I'm good at night actions by any stretch of imagination, but I feel like the previous game we had a lot more back and forth about possibilities. Maybe you spoiled me and I'm feeling salty over nothing.

I feel like I should iterate again that I'm not claiming Plum played bad. I was just trying to express the feeling I got while playing the game that made it difficult for me.

I guess if Lea dies and no one else does, Death would immediately know SBell is scum.

I definitely have a very scum specific style where I try to become the persona of a town player who is careful not to say something that will kill himself.

That generally leads to me interacting with the scum board during day as little as humanly possible

I take no offense! Getting day 1'd was both a mistake on my part (fell asleep in a bathtub when I meant to come back an hour beforehand) and a blessing (I've been going through some really heavy shit IRL but a day later, dead town chat has the details- but it's time to go to the hospital again for family, meanwhile.)

As in kill or scan him? No kill was because we thought he is a usual doc target. And we wanted to use our scan/burn to try and get info on targets we thought would live longer. I think the assumption was that Han would be killed or lynched in the first couple days and not need to be scanned.

But when we had the opportunity to kill Han, only Red and I wanted to do it, while the others thought he was still a potential mislynch target, so we went for Death instead. Technically hitting doctor was a great result, but unfortunately also completely spoiled our Red victory condition!

Also it was amazing to find out from an off the cuff that Ulti is right near me at the moment. I might even pop in tonight.
