The boycott was too small and pathetic to be anything but free advertising.

I mean, people thought a boycott in support of the Trans community would work against a community that still uses the N word like the spirits of their grandpas have just been jumping to new bodies every generation.

Maybe they didn't and just did it to show the Trans community people cared tho. Which honestly, saying it out loud actually makes me glad it happened. It doesn't always gotta be about winning the war.

The boycott was just a vocal minority. I never even saw people talk about boycotting it. Just people "reacting" to the boycotters by saying they'll pre-order 10 copies.

Same thing happened with Nike when all the conservatives got butthurt over Colin Kaepernick and tried to boycott Nike, only for them to report record earnings. Boycotts work st a local level. I never actually see it work in a national/international level.

There was an online boycott against WotC due to OGL that worked, because it was players paying for the DNDBeyond sub mass cancelling, because the new OGL was massively disliked by the community and it was something the entire community could agree upon.

Boycott works when the product is largely purchased by a like minded community who can agree upon an action.

When it comes to Hogwarts Legacy, the trans community itself wasn't even in agreement as there's many trans people who are playing the game. The whole thing is a vocal minority using the trans movement as an excuse to harass other people. These people don't care about the trans movement.

Anyone who paid attention LGBT people trying to get people to boycott Chik-Fil-A nearly a decade ago for their anti-gay donations and saw how that turned out. I was one of those who naively thought people could eat somewhere else but nope. Personally, I still haven't eaten there and won't but I don't expect allies to not eat there.

It was basically going to happen for this game. If people won't boycott Chik-Fil-A, in what part of their mind did these people think the majority will boycott this video game?

But it is funny seeing Vtubers getting bullied.

That's good, it deserves it and so do all the people who worked hard on it. It's a good game.

I sadly have to accept that there are people who are openly anti gay rights who find it funny, but you're for revoking women's suffrage? That is a hell of a take.

Eh. Kanye has been snowballing for 10+ years. That's the thing with real mental sickness. He has so many enablers he's just gonna fall deeper and deeper until it ends in real tragedy. I don't think he gets a second wind. It's just that no one cared enough until he stopped aiming at the black community and started aiming at the jewish community. If he walks something back, it's a short moment of clarity and usually due to medication he'll eventually refuse to take again, thanks to enablers. Himself being the biggest one.

He's the artist of our generation people look back on and go "Shit...that was actually really fucked up" as stuff about his personal life leaks and we see more and more just how unhinged he became. Think about what he has done in public. This is WITH people around him trying to hold him under control to not fuck up everyone's bag.

Obviously this isn't backed by anything but rather a theory by someone who's been watching since his very first moment in the spotlight.

But the masses rarely ever get it right in the moment. Think of all the artists you learn about after everything is all said and done and how perspective changes over time after personal stuff comes out.

It's A game based on one of the biggest franchises of all time. Of course it would sell well.

I think this would make it the blockbuster released only for PS5/XS/PC. Even though it is being released for others later.

Makes me wonder how well Spider-man would sell if it was released for all platforms.

I looked it up and yeah you're right. Glad I was proven wrong lol. But I think you got it right about this specific boycott. The voices I think were silenced the most were Trans people who bought/played this game. Like the two most prominent trans people I talk to are my wife's best friends and both are FtM and are huge potterheads (really dumb name for a fanbase).

Yeah that is my main complaint of the game and I got pretty good hardware. Running at 1080p high instead of ultra reduces some of the frame inconsistencies, but the frame drops still happen occasionally. Ray tracing is also a no go.

I haven't turned off all the ray tracing yet since it looks pretty good in this game. Tried turning off DLSS to lower the resolution below 2160p and it's still not the best but I can deal with it. The game recommended Ultra 4K but lol no unless you like popping and locking in certain locations. Maybe a 4090 could handle it.

Yeah you want a 4090 for 4k. Even with a 4090, you can't get stable 60 fps with ray tracing on if you have everything else on Ulra.

You also want a card with lots of vram if you want ray tracing. 8gb doesn't cut it. I learned that the hard way with my 8 gb RTX 3070 Ti. I get single digit fps with ray racing enabled.

That's the only way I can see to lower the resolution below 2160. With DLSS on the resolution option is greyed out and you can't change it. It's based on your display.

I'll play with it some more. Just started messing with it last night.

I have an RTX 3080 and the game runs like butter on maxed settings.

Do you guys have anything else running that could be hindering performance?

My system: 2080ti and 9900k.

Ascendio Mod 1.0 helped me to not experience drops down to 25 fps. Version 2.0 of the mod makes textures load more slowly and it is very obvious too whenever I fast traveled. 2.0 did not give me major game-changing improvements over 1.0 so I opted out of it.

Running the game at 4k with dlss quality and sharpening at 0.5. Looks better than native 4k w/ TAA imo. 4k w/ dlaa seems to be better image quality although a bit softer but at least there is no noticeable shimmering. That said id have to cap my fps to 30 if i want to play native 4k lol. I'm playing on a 65-inch TV and sit about 5 feet away for reference.

Graphics settings: Ultra character population density and Ultra Textures. Medium fog, sky, foliage. Everything else is on High. I have depth of field, motion blur, chromatic abberation, and film grain off. Raytracing OFF. HDR ON.

Performance: 55-70 fps although I keep it 60 fps capped. It will frequently go down to mid-50s in the Hogsmeade area but that is really the only area where its noticeable. If I set fog,sky, and foliage on high I will get drops down to like the lower 50s in Hogsmeade and certain areas around Hogwarts and the forest area.

Just my experience so far. I do recommend Ascendio 1.0. mod it might help some systems. I believe the 3070ti should be more powerful than a 2080ti.

That's what the game set me at when I started and I have a 3080. It started out fine, then when I got inside the castle certain rooms would dip so hard it was nauseating to look at. Got down to 14fps a few times. Nothing else is running on that PC. I only use it for gaming.

Pretty impressive numbers especially considering it's not out on old gen systems yet

No I was saying all the boycott posts were from Western countries. To name a country. I didnt see any China or Japan boycotts. It seemed like a niche group doing it.

Discord, GameFAQs, and occasionally a virtual machine that I forgot to turn off lol. I also tried test streaming too to twitch and the frame drops were even worse while streaming while my CPU was hitting 90C.

I am playing at 1080p if it wasn't clear.
