It's widely believed he could've played in that game, but chose not to, and it's something I feel has been held against him all offseason.

I will. Lamar's best season was better than hurts' best season. Hurts is better right now which is maybe what you meant, but if lamar puts up another season like he did when he won MVP I take that over hurts' best season.

he'll still be good for sure, but not "paid more than any other qb ever good"

I would expect the Rams could sign a better FA receiver with the $5MM they saved from getting rid of him.

This is about college football, but there isn't a college topic at the moment. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this rule change. The clock stopping after 1st downs is like THE intrinsic difference between college football and the NFL.

Still have 1 foot vs 2 feet for out of bounds catches. That's a big one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL eventually adopts the college rule on that one. I know it's been mentioned before.

The first difference between college and NFL rules I think of is down by contact

That one rule is why you get so many lategame chokejobs. It gives the offense many many more plays.

Oh yeah that might actually be the biggest rule difference.

That rule change alone will result in more upsets because teams won't be able to go down the entire field 10-12 yards at a time in just 20 seconds anymore.

This will make Iowa's offense even worse since it is a slow plodding offense that really depends on those clock stops.

I guess it also works in Iowa's favor because it'll give their opponents fewer scoring opportunities
