Edit: Found the dates. He was my age when he absconded with a 13 year old. I knew it was an abusive relationship that KT tried to portray more wholesomely, but that is just plain wrong and kinda disgusting that they tried to whitewash that...

Dynasty Warriors has definitely been branching out in what could be considered the source material. By now it is more a story based on historic events, with heavy influences by various cultural depictions and retellings.

Just saying it has not been a pure adaptation of the book for a long time.

Still, glossing over questionable fathering is something DW9 and SW4SM have in common. For probably similar reasons.

its not a pure adaptation sure, but the source DW has been pulling off of is absolutely the novel, not actual history. novel's just fucking huge and there's always more characters to rip out into a game

suo has been in every musou game with the except of warriors 1, which isn't a musou game

Before they made her a Liu Bei arm-warmer and essentially ripped away her Tomboyishness, Sun Shangxiang. Worst part is she has one of the strongest potentials for storytelling with her family vs. love shtick that got dropped off a cliff after DW5.

Fortunately, DW5 also gave me Xing Cai so swings and roundabouts. There's also Zhao Yun, Xiahou Dun, Zhang Liao, Sun Ce, Wang Yuanji, Zhang Chinhua...and I should probably stop playing these mid-level games as much as I do...maybe after Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes...

X is probably one of the more obscure/unpopular Gundam shows.

I used to think I knew most of the main Gundams, but it turns out that my knowledge stopped around 00.

Thunderbolt is my favorite. The beam saber scene is truly one of the most fucked up things I think I've ever seen in Gundam.

X was my first because it was in the first SRW i played, alpha gaiden. srw is basically 99% of my gundam knowledge lol

Even Gaiden is an odd-one out. Specifically having a setting to allow in a lot of series that otherwise would not fit in a regular SRW.

Still, good for you. X is definitely a severely underrated gem in my opinion.

Lu Lingqi, that tomboy is amazing. Bought DYNASTY WARRIORS 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition and she's pretty much the only character I play (around 57000 kills just with her), though I'd prefer if she wasn't treated as a mere mouth-piece who strokes Lu Bu's ego.
I initially was interested in buying DW9, but I read her main weapon got changed, so nope.

shes much better in 9 than she was in 8

That is kinda misleading. DW6 changed Lu Bu's weapon to a Cross Halberd. 7 changed it back and 8 expanded on 7s moveset.
In DW8XL, Lingqi, they gave her Lu Bu's weapon from DW6 with a new moveset.

More slight misleading. In DW8XL everyone had a fully unique weapon and moveset.
DW9 has less movesets and weapons again and most characters share theirs with atleast one other character.

the only difference with how 8 did it was characters got a unique to them ex move if they used their preferred weapon type.

Everyone has an unique preferred weapon in 8. In 6 and 7 characters have shared preferred weapons with shared movesets.

xiahou dun with a podao and a dragon spear

has the exact goddamn same moveset as zhao yun with a dragon spear and podao

the characters do not have their own moveset, the moveset is dictated by the weapon. the only unique thing the characters have is their ex skills when using their preferred weapon.

period. go try it for yourself.

For DW8 without DLC, the number of unique weapons/movesets = the number of playable characters.

For 6 and 7, that first number is lower than the second.
