We're in the home stretch now.

The main event this week pits the lovable, dangerous, and delicious-looking Ripperoni in a heated battle against the undefeated Copperhead. In another similar battle of rookie vs. undefeated bot, Emulsifier looks to stop Quantum from finishing 4-0 in our opening contest. As a reminder, please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV. Showtime is a little under an hour away.

Shreddit Bro is going to need more than Overhaul.

Ribbot's 0-3 right now isn't it? I remember them having a pretty high seed in the tournament last year or the year before, would be sad if they don't even make it in this time since it's not like the bot is performing any worse, they've just had some really tough opponents.

Yes, they're 0-3, but with a really tough schedule. Their losses are to 2-2 Jackpot, 3-1 Claw Viper, and 3-0 Witch Doctor, and only the WD loss was by KO. If they beat 2-1 Skorpios, I think Ribbot might make the tournament even at 1-3 because of their schedule and only being knocked out by WD. 0-4 definitely won't make it (unless they announce some kind of surprise last chance rumble) so this is a must-win for the frog.

Or you could subscribe to Discovery+ and watch the episodes that way. You can even catch up on the earlier episodes that you missed.

Gigabyte got demolished. All it took was two huge hits from End Game and Gigabyte was over and out. Their 1-3 probably won't be enough to make the tournament. I'm gonna use Shreddit Bro's fight as a restroom break since that thing is a piece of crap.

Fusion and catching fire at a bad time. Name a more iconic couple.

Ripperoni takes down the undefeated Copperhead and proves that they're serious contenders for the Giant Nut this season. A great fight to cap off a great episode with only two weeks left until we see the postseason bracket.

Main event:

I did think that Ripperoni was going to win the fight going into it, but not like that. Was really hoping for a slugfest.

edit: watched it again, and I'd almost asterisk this win as a driving error from Copperhead. I almost feel ripped off.

Main event was awful

It was like the wall hit Copperhead with a Charmed status effect because it just would not take it's eyes off it. Every second Copperhead was on screen was just Copper driving itself into the wall.

Shreddit Bro was like YOLO!

Glad Ribbot won instead of Skorpios. Not really a fan of Skorpios and their stunt with the sword from last fight hopefully comes back and bites them in the butt.

@KFHEWUI Just a heads up, the 24-hour "no match results outside of spoiler tags" period isn't up yet. You're only about half an hour too early, but still.

We don't need to use spoiler tags when talking about future regular season match-ups because they put every bot's full schedule on the website this season. (obviously don't click this link if you're not fully caught up with the results through this week's episode)

Based on the scheduled fights left to happen, it's a safe bet that the last two main events of the regular season are Black Dragon vs. Riptide next week and Minotaur vs. Witch Doctor the week after. The only other fights that seem remotely main event worthy are Beta vs. Bloodsport (which may have main evented next week if it wasn't for all of the publicity Riptide has been getting) and Whiplash vs. defending champion Tantrum (which could have main evented most shows this season but probably not over Minotaur vs. Witch Doctor).

An elite bot getting 2HKO'd is amazing. I don't know how people can get upset about it.

Copperhead's mistake was underestimating how quickly Ripperoni could turn, it was trying to drive around and hit Ripperoni on the side and Ripperoni just pivoted too fast and caught them flat-footed.

Ripperoni has rookie of the year boxed up.

I agree, it seemed like Copperhead underestimated Ripperoni's maneuverability and that's what led to its defeat. A veteran team like Copperhead doesn't just make a simple driving error like that for no reason. Then the first hit shook their drive up and the fight was basically over from there.

100%, no other rookie this season even comes close. This is one of the best rookie showings in BattleBots history.

Don't crucify me, but while I do think RIPperoni is good, I'm still not committed to believing it as an elite bot. I still think it has all the same stuff that makes verticals good, but with the same weaknesses too. Basically, very powerful like Uppercut, but it's not as stable as I think it needs to be.

Its wins against Endgame and Copperhead don't really feel like they tell the whole story. As mentioned, it does have a very powerful weapon, and even a bot like Endgame isn't going to appreciate it's opponent getting 1 (or was it even 2?) free hits with its vertical weapon before it has a chance to fight back. And with Copperhead, we really didn't get a full story on that either as Team Copperhead made a fatally bad decision at the start of the fight. Willing and hoping to be proven wrong, as it is a fun theme, and I like weapons like Uppercut and RIPperoni, but I'm still in the boat of it being a tier below elite. Don't hate me please.

I think Ribbot deserves serious consideration. Very tough schedule, and it had a very strong case of still being a tournament-worthy bot today. I think of the bots that got 2-2 today, Shreddit is the only one at risk of not making it in. Really really happy that Quantum got the win today. 4-0 and a very fun alternative design to the current meta. Don't think it will win as losing those teeth feels very likely against the upper echelon of Battlebots, but I hope it can make a strong push during the tournament. Maybe get to the quarterfinals, or heck, even the Semifinals depending how the matches around it go.

Endgame is my personal favorite to win it still honestly. Of course, I'm far from sleeping on Minotaur, but I just have a feeling the matchup between the two will go differently this year if it is to happen at some point in the tournament.

Shreddit is absolutely not making the tournament. It was 2-2 on what was probably the easiest strength of schedule this season.

And its two wins weren't even strong wins. Its two losses were downright sad. It getting in would basically be a bye for whoever matched up against it.
