Some late boss battles are changed a bit (for the worse imo) but they're almost identical so just continue with the GBA version. It's a good game yeah! I specifically remember being surprised by how much I was enjoying playing the game after not having played it for 10+ years (I replayed the original multiple times in the first 3-4 years that it was out, then didn't touch it again).
