Like even if there were a dozen in the series of a videogame, why would it be "too late"? Are you in a rush or something? Shouldn't you be enjoying playing through each one no matter which game you're at? Or do you have to be at the latest one like everyone else?

I've pretty much missed every single huge game release for the past few years myself. Death Stranding, Red Dead Redemption 2, Bloodbourne, Spiderman, Demons Souls, Elden Ring, Like a Dragon. And guess what? I've bought them and playing through them now. And I'm having a blast doing it in my own time. I'm also playing through the whole Dark Souls, Bloodbourne series, going up to Elden Ring. Replaying all the Star Ocean series, RE Remake series, absolutely every single Pokemon generation game ect

The only thing I played on release recently that I can think of was Endwalker >_>

Its definitely too late to play classic RE games. Those controls will make you defenestrate yourself.

the one thing i do miss about playing a game months/years after everyone else is that the most if not all discussion on the game has died as everyone has moved onto the next big thing.

This. I always try to put myself in the mind set of a person who played games in that era. I beat the original LoZ with no help by drawing my own map as I played. Still one of my favorite gaming experiences.

I usually only hear this in regards to GaaS where you'll have to compete with people who have been accruing resources for years OR where the community has died off significantly and there's not really anyone to play with.

There's more and more games being released and you only have a limited lifespan to consume so much media
