I'm reading this book by Don Fargo, who claims he's a card holding member of the KKK. But he also really makes it a point that these KKK group are not racist, nor is he, and that they're only watching over the community, and they have no issues with people of color. It made me laugh at the ridiculousness of this claim, but at the same time, wonder, is this even a possibility?

Absolutely not. The claim of "we're just looking out for the community" is exactly how they recruit. If you weren't a racist, you wouldn't be part of the KKK period.

The KKK has always tried to dress up what they do as "we're not bigots, we're just defending the white race!" They know being a bunch of petty, spiteful assholes is bad for their marketing, so they take up gaslighting.

I'm sure there's some sort of possibility that they could have only pretended to be racist during joining, or the kkk may have some sort of official portal where they can't be as discriminating as they want, however the likely hood is just not there.

There's not much of a reason for anyone to join if they're not racist anyways.

but then there is the debate if you were actually a real member, also if you are part of law enforcement you are also likely to be racist anyways

I guess in theory? The issue is that there is other options for participation in your local culture and economy. The KKK is the one that also involves being anti government when convenient and, of course, tons of racism. When you have different options there is gonna be a reason you hooked up with the group with the long history of racism.

It'd be a weird contradiction to say the least, especially them of all groups. Even though I don't think they've done much other then exist the past few decades.

There were people defending Murdoch as well as not being racist, because he apparently slept with a black woman.
