Yes. I loved it. I wish they hadn't lost the cut footage

There was a bunch of scenes cut that were set in "hell" that was decided too fucked up for theatrical release I think

after production, at some point the cut footage was accidently destroyed

Think it was nearly 30 or 40 minutes cut because it was deemed too much to handle. Plus the ending was changed...

Wish we could see the original vision, not the one that got muddled with by head honchos.

I still find the opening credits cheesy for some reason, but man I love the whole premise and vibe.

Yeah, scared the shit out of me as a kid. Rewatched it a year or two ago, it was okay. Had a pretty cool premise with a so so delivery.

More orgy and violence, pretty much. That was a bulk of it, which was why it was deemed too much and got it classified as literal gore porn pretty much. However, it would have been more hellish and memorable, instead of just "eh".

My headcanon is that Even Horizon is the prequel to the 40k universe: mankind first discovers the Immaterium accidentally.

I greatly dislike horror movies as a whole, but this was the first one I loved. Today, only Cabin in the Woods has held a candle to it, in my view.

In order to traverse interstellar space in 40k, they tear open holes into space Hell and fly their ships through using a bubble of real space kept in tact by a device called a Gellar Field generator. If the Gellar Field fails and the ship becomes exposed to space Hell, bad things go down very akin to what happened in Event Horizon. Daemons fuck your spirit in horrible ways and the ship is either never seen again or it spits back out into the galaxy probably all haunted.

Fun fact: the reason the extended cut doesn't exist is because they stored the film in an abandoned Transylvanian salt mine.

Turns out salt mines aren't great for film reels.

Who knew.
