I believe that Trump's involvement in January 6th is a very significant factor in why the gathering became a riot. At any time before the violence occurred, he could have accepted defeat in the election, discouraged people from approaching the building, told them not to interfere with the process, etc...but he never did.

As such, I think he does hold a lot of responsibility for what happened. The real blame always rests on the individuals who perpetrate the act, but when searching for a direct cause that influenced them to do it, he's right near the top of the list.

Trump literally paints Democrats and reporters as "enemies of the people." He suggests that the country would be way better off if they didn't exist at all. That's hurtful, hateful rhetoric that is one or two steps away from being direct threats.

Rowling and Chappelle do not say things like that. I don't think either of them have ever said (at least to my knowledge) that the world would be better off without trans people, or that trans people should cease to exist. Correct me if I'm wrong?

I always find it weird when people talk about blame like its a finite quantity. When someone is arrested for aiding and abetting a criminal, no one says but theyre not the real one to blame.

I don't have a ton of examples on-hand, but around here there were a lot of people who said things equating to "Buying Hogwarts Legacy is exactly like supporting anti-trans sentiment," which is just silly and generalized.

I am fighting what I see as a powerful, insidious, misogynistic movement, that has gained huge purchase in very influential areas of society.
