I enjoyed it as a kid, yes. Recently I rewatched the first one and it still holds up as a solid movie for all ages. Tried to watch ll the next day and made it about 13 minutes before turning it off

Damn rewatched the scene because of this comment and he was clearly in the wrong and comes off extremely unlikable, why did they even do the scene like that

I only saw it a couple times as a kid. I remember liking it but being disappointed no Bebop and Rocksteady. Who knows if I would like it now. The first movie is still decent, I remember watching that VHS weekly as a kid.

I liked it. I can suspend my disbelief with the mutant animals, but there is no way you can convince me every one of the incompetent Foot soldiers passed that bell test Keno was supposed to do.

When the trailer came out for the movie and they showed the feet and hands of Tokka and Rahzar (they didn't show their entire bodies) me and my friends all thought it was gonna be Bebop and Rocksteady. Imagine our disappointment when we saw the movie and finding out they that were not, in fact, Bebop and Rocksteady. I mean, we all somewhat suspected that they weren't Bebop and Rocksteady when the feet and hands shown in the trailer clearly didn't match Bebop and Rocksteady's feet and hands but DAMMIT we were hoping that they were still Bebop and Rocksteady and that New Line Cinema had changed their looks just a tad from the cartoon.

Bottom line is that New Line Cinema clearly wanted millions of kids to believe that the glimpses shown in the trailer were Bebop and Rocksteady. I guess they succeeded.

Eastman and Laird, the creators of TMNT, vetoed Bebop and Rocksteady appearing. That's why we got two original mutant enemies instead.

Fast forward to 2016 and we finally get Bebop and Rocksteady in live action form in the *other* TMNT II movie. And honestly? I loved that movie simply because not only did we FINALLY get to see Bebop and Rocksteady in a live action movie, but we also got to see Krang.
Too bad out of the shadows was dogshit. The Technodrome was terrible.

First film is one of the best comic adaptations ever. If the final Shredder fight were more epic, it would be my favorite, full stop. Second one is fine.

They were in a bad situation with Shredder. In the first film, he outclassed the Turtles. In the second film, he received an upgrade. What were they going to do to him?

If you take the final fight vs Shredder in the first season of the 2003 TMNT series and did that, in live action, in the first TMNT film, you'd have an overall incredible movie.

I hated the 2003 series! I was of course 15 years older than I was when I watchEd the original cartoon but still. I never gave it a fair shot. I hated the turtles not having pupils or irises. And later I heard that shredder wasn't even shredder, he was an alien? The fuck? Completely throwing away the hamato yoshi and oroku saki connection?

The 2003 show is excellent. They did not throw out the Yoshi/Saki stuff.

The one where Shredder defeats the Turtles, then loses to Splinter two moves to nothing? They kinda did that in the first movie.

No, the ending where the Turtles infiltrate Shredder's lair Game of Death-style, Splinter is incapacitated, and after an intense fight Leondardo chops off Shredder's head

It's obviously a step down from the first movie. It's not bad though. It's more campy and goofy like the cartoon, which in some ways is easier to stomach than a serious story about mutant turtles.

Oh, that one. The basic structure of that fight might have worked.

I'm sorry though. That twist stopped the cartoon cold for me.

I loved it. It was a good way to blend the Utroms into the overall story AND it was the only way they could ever emulate the original Shredder fight from the comics in a TV Y7 cartoon.
