If my friends daughter thinks I'm auntie Bahamut, then that is what I am.

Also, like, the terms "auntie" and "uncle" has the connotations of "older person who I am familiar with" in several cultures, including lots of brown and black cultures from countries that use English, so yeah this topic is actually kind of hella racist, although I'm assuming it's simply because of ignorance and not malice.

i can agree with the sentiment, but it's really not that big of a deal. my cousins' kids should definitely count, though. will never call them cousins, too. maybe some combo term? niecin/nephin/somegenderneutraltermthatdoesntexist?

My girlfriend's niece is being baptized today. Since the day my niece was brought home and I held her - First baby I've ever held btw - I've wanted a daughter. My girlfriend doesn't want, or like, kids.
She is SO excited to be a godmother. The other day while drunk, she out of nowhere proclaimed how excited she is. She just showed me the niece's baptismal dress. So stinkin cute

Peoples parents dont have 8 siblings between them anymore. Some kids would only have 1 or 2 aunts/uncles if parents friends arent included.
