Well actually, I never played Yakuza 5 before. But I've heard a couple things >_>

-You get to play air hockey with a busty lady after taking a bath at the hotsprings and stare at your opponent's boobs to regain your special meter (even when you're playing as Haruka LOL)
-Apparently some chick gets totally naked for Kiryu because she wants to bang him, but Kiryu being the eternal virgin puts a coat back on her and walks away lol
-Revelations are back and I'm gonna assume there's a bunch of pervy shit in them too.

Probably a bunch of others I don't know about, but I'm eager to find out!

What a great game! This whole series is just fantastic

I took a break after Yakuza 4 and Like a Dragon Ishin so I wouldn't get burned out. But now that the RGG summit was announced and all this Gaiden info came out, it was kind of a kick in the balls for me to finish Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 6 so I can be ready for Like a Dragon Gaiden when it comes out.

I hear Yakuza 5 is massive and either people love it for all the content it has or people hate it because it's way too long. I'll see for myself I guess >_>

That said, I'm kinda interested to play as Haruka. I've been dragging her ass through 4 games, and now I get to finally play as her with a completely different playstyle. I hope it's fun...

And it's twenty.

Basically that's when a Japanese person becomes a legal adult. They can drink. They can drive. They can vote.

But yeah there's usually a celebration for it. Not quite a quinceanera, usually more solemn.

Huh, I never knew that. So even after they graduate high school, they're still 2 years away from their coming of age?

It's nice to be able to browse magazines again. I liked that in Kiwami 1. I heard 3 and 4 also had that feature but they had to scrap it for the remasters for some reason (I'm gonna assume legal bullshit because these are real magazines)

Is it just me or does quickstep cancel feel really clunky in this game? In previous games it was super smooth, but in 5 it feels like I have to actively fight with my character before he'll actually quickstep cancel.

On paper perhaps, but de facto, that's not true. To my knowledge almost every prefecture has made laws raising the age. It's 16-18 in most places.

That 13 rule was a federal thing (which recently got overturned to 16 now iirc). But all the prefectures have their own laws that override it and 99% of them are 16-18 just like the US. Only some random backwater prefectures were probably still keeping the age of consent at 13.

Enemies can run away from battles and call backup now? That's cool. Why isn't this in the other games? Is it because them calling for backup gonna get old quickly?

This is what I like about the Yakuza series. There's always a ton of random stores you can't even go inside that have this cool level of detail out front in the world. Plus it's a decent looking waifu too >_>

TBH I do think the encounter rate can be especially high if you aren't paying attention to your surroundings and recognize who's going to take a run at ya. Also if there isn't a lot of room to maneuver around you can just get stuck pounding through some fools. There is a cool location later on, but it has a lot of single lane crossings and narrow roads so there isn't much chance of avoiding encounters.

The game still rules though. Also relating to your earlier question people don't call for reinforcements all that often and if they do ya can stomp them hard anyways, it's not like they call higher leveled fighters, I remember sometimes people running when I really wanted to beat on them more too. So while it's an amusing one off for the series it really does not have a major impact.

I doubt it is anything that extensive? CyricZ is the expert of course, but I still have the original version on my PS3 I figure it would just name some real titles with some other fluff text. I don't remember myself.

Yeah, I haven't played it but it's just Yakuza with a Fist of the North Star skin. Apparently it's a pretty mediocre game though. The mainline games are much better. I would start with Yakuza 0 though instead of Kiwami

I told myself I wouldn't post here a ton, but hey your topic is getting some attention also. I Hope you can keep up and not get too distracted. I had very little patience for that driving part of the cabbie story. I am sure it is part of the 100 percent (which w/e to me I never do more than 40-60 in these games) but maybe back when I played Driver 1 on the PSX (heh) I would have loved that though. The idea of trying to drive so perfectly is amusing, just I have little desire for that now. I appreciate how they tried to put that in the game.

I enjoyed the other part of being a cab driver where you would just pick up rides and answer questions and have to pick the right answers to not that piss them off. Also Kiryu has a main side story which is freakin awesome. Every character has a main side story quest and they kick ass generally.

I actually kinda liked Saejima's main minigame after a while, it's pretty relaxing actually.

I never finished it until the remaster, but it was way more involved than it should be and his story and feel of character was better in 5.
