I'm not a fanboy is the thing. I'm a gamer yes and i will buy where i feel the games are. I have a ps4. No xbone because the xbone sucked. I had an xbox 360 and ps2 because they were both good. Had a ps1 and 3d0 too because star control II. Sega Genesis. I'm not a nintendo guy. I had a commodore 64 and amiga and pc gamer for years where i'd build my pc but got tired of doing that honestly. That will teach you a ot honestly that the hardware in these consoles is basically the same anyways and if developers aren't taking advantage of it it doesn't matter. I sold my commodore 64 for teh nintendo 8 bit and regretted it and haven't bought nintendo since. Mike Tyson's Punch Out was good though. If I'm a fanboy of anything it's probably Commodore. lol.

These consoles used to use proprietary hardware is the thing. They don't anymore. It's just a pc in a box with the same architecture basically. The ps5 and Series X use the same architecture. That stuff ended last gen really as far as proprietary hardware. The ps3 was really the last console that used a different chipset.

I had Xbox and ps2 my bad. I also had Xbox 360 and ps3. Last gen I just had ps4. No xbone. I stopped PC gaming around after the ps2/ps3 era. It's not worth it anymore. PC gaming died around that time for me.

Honestly, Nintendo managed to save them selves with the Switch and take the lead.

I feel like they lost the sales battle because there are more gamers now than ever that buy consoles and people bought the ps5 on hype alone. In my day lol, there were as many gamers but they were all over the map. Now people just plunk down $500 and they don't even know what they are buying.

Xbox is basically just a "bedroom gamepass box" now. That's even a bad thing.

Gaming has diversified as to what platform people prefer to game on.

While PC gamers are larger in terms of raw #'s compared to console gamers.
Console Gamers pay more and generate more revenue than PC gamers.

Mobile gaming is another beast in itself in terms of how much $$$ they make.

People in my day would literally build their own why it didn't count as diversifying which is a misnomer. ANd if we couldn't build our own gaming machines we'd make our own fun in other ways too. Seriously arcades didn't really count either towards that. That's diversity. Games were the machines and the machines were games.

Nintendo usually has solid 1st party exclusives and soime 3rd party.

I've been wanting to build a "gaming" PC for awhile, but every time I start to get serious about it, I realize I don't really want to play anything.

Even have a decent Steam backlog waiting, thanks to various humble bundles.

You look at that list, it's about a third or half 1st and 2nd party.

When there's high budget games that need 10+ million to be worth it the concept of a console exclusive is harder and harder to justify. Sony got around it by putting most of their games on PS4 until they hit around 50 million console sales.

Times change. We're coming up to an ecosystem war instead of just the hardware.

Nintendo has always been in their own little bubble and their games aren't as focused on being high budget. They also don't really have the same model as general either.

I'm not pushing anything overly. I was just making the point that sales and marketing are sales and marketing. People can get a million views on youtube by simply existing these days. I was just looking at the games and it wasn't even a thought in my mind is all, and you are all bringing up sales and talking about diversity of sales when if you really look at it. It's not that diverse.

BOth consoles are even using the same hardware pretty much and it comes down to a handful of games. It just goes to show what marketing will do. If choosing between the two people will buy playstation because their friend has playstation or whatever and they can play together.

I'd be happy if Sony & Xbox merged their gaming hardware divisions into one unit.

Given how similar both the PS5 & XSX is, there's really no reason to create more hardware waste by having different hardware consoles.

They can both fund different game types, but using the same platform would help more than hurt.

And given how much Nintendo is spanking them both combined, I wouldn't be surprised if they elected to work together on the hardware side.

The crossgen games like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok sold significantly more than the PS5 launch only games.

The highest selling PS5 only game is Ratchet and Clank A Rift Apart at 1.1 million. That has since been ported to PC.

I think they're referring to some games requiring you to buy the PS5 version, even if you have the PS4 one.

But like, its still the same game.

Oh I'm sorry about that, I'm so used to it being on the ps5.

However, Demon souls remake has also sold more than Ratchet and Clank though. The biggest game to really go by so far as exclusives go is ff16 when it releases this month though.

Timed exclusives definitely seem to matter considerably, with how much the ps5 has sold.

My point has ever been that the whole "why does Xbox exist when all the games are on PC" is overall bunk. Most gamers who play AAA games are not doing so on PC. It's a different market. Which is why both Xbox and Sony port their games over there but not to each others platform (which even then happens now and again).

Timed exclusives matter. Console exclusives matter. A combination of many different things matter. But I think a lot of people underestimate that people just buy a PlayStation because that's what they buy. It's common knowledge that most PS5 games are on PS4 and PC and the general market doesn't care. They still went out in droves to buy one. Even though people can simply spend that money on a gaming PC and get all of the first party games and multiplats from Sony and Microsoft even if some are late.

If Xbox Series had their first party games exclusive the only difference they'd have is they'd be making a lot less money. PS5 would still double them in sales. Xbox doesn't have enough content that isn't on PlayStation (yet) to make an impact regardless. PC isn't really their competition in the same way.

Doubt they'd even be able to buy Bethesda if they were working with true console exclusivity either and Starfield is gonna be their biggest game since Halo 3. So they'd overall be in an even worse position.

If PC ports means the Xbox console doesn't matter then it shouldn't matter if Microsoft bought up Bethesda and Activision. And yet that isn't how the general reaction was. Because there's a shitload of people who just buy a PlayStation console and nothing else. That's a much bigger audience than the people who buy a gaming PC and a PS5.

I don't know where you got this from. Some of you are lying and pissing about it. I was just looking at the games and just made the comment the xbox is winning as far as that and it's half the price for the series S. And Sony does charge like 10 dollars more for the ps5 version fo games if you have a ps4. I have a ps4 currently and haven't even bought an Xbox yet.

I don't care if the playstation sells 8 billion and the xbox sells 1. It doesn't affect me. Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft still have a percentage of the market share and gaming isn't that diverse these days like people have tried to make it. You basically have 3 choices. I'm not that immature here. Quite the opposite. The other stuff i was just joking. I was just looking at the games and noted that the xbox is actually winning as far as games but millions bought that apparently. I didn't even know the playstation was that far ahead as far as sales. And Starfield could flop for all i know right now.

I'm still on ps4 here. Something doesn't add up with your comments because it's not what I said at all. I think if anything it just shows most consumers are mindless and will just buy what they are told and don't want to fuss about anything and willl end up pissing if someone says anything outside their bubble.

I still think Starfield may flop as well. It will probably end up more Bethesda's version of what Destiny was for ps4.

Xbox series X is $500 with $60 a year gamepass or for some of us that did some vpn work $60 for 3 years lol. Gaming PC is $1500 fresh build with $600-1200 gpu upgrades every 4-6 years. As an owner of a gaming PC its better to stay with Xbox than PC when it comes to playing modern games. A PC has its advantages for varying reasons too, but if youre comparing it to gaming between an Xbox, PS, or PC then theres a lot of great reasons to have a Xbox.

I have a 3080 and know if I want to keep maxing out modern games Ill need to upgrade again when the 50 series comes out.

Why would people buy Starfield for Xbox? Mods are going to be popular for it as usual for Bethesda games. PC is the way to go for it.
