I had reservations about this all. I absolutely love FF14 and yoshi-p and the team, but something about this just wasn't gripping me in. When I saw the trailers and videos it looked good, but didn't feel special. But then the demo changed that. Holy shit, that was the best demo I have ever played in my life.

Pre-ordered the Deluxe edition a while ago, and I'm glad I did >_>

Glad to hear it! I'm keeping myself from playing the demo so I can play it somewhat blind, I had a strong feeling I would like the game anyway.

I've still got TotK to finish though, lol.

Yeah, this game is gonna be legit.

The deluxe is a massive waste of money

Demo is legit better than a lot of games out there and its free. If the game keeps and ramps up the quality of the demo, we'll be in for a sure GOTY contender.

The deluxe is a massive waste of money

Its not the one with the statue but the steelbook one with the map. Its still 100 so you might have a point. But its Final Fantasy, I usually get the collectors edition. Did the same with FF7 remake and FF15, but this one was around 300 I think, like holy shit.

That *SPOILER* needs to die.

I like that there is a return to actually telling a story with this one. Give me a boatload of cutscenes, you are a final fantasy! Also the gameplay was awesome (although I had some framerate/camera issues that hopefully are improved for the full release). Probably the best demo I've played

I didn't expect it to be so dark. The summons look so... Primal? They seem very organic and less straight magic in some ways which is cool.

I like how magic use is incorporated into regular day to day life.

I been saying for months this is gonna be my GotY, and usually when I do that the game lets me down hard. Unless the story falls flat on its face later in the game, that's not the case this time. The demo was absolute fire.

Just for now. PC in a year or slightly before. I think the exclusivity is only for 6 months but Yoshida said that they would focus a great deal on optimization and they haven't even started yet due to preparing for launch and all that going on.

should i skip the cutscenes or go all in, havent played it yet

I wasn't really compelled to get it at release until I got to watch that demo playthrough. lol

It's literally like the first 2 hours of the game. Unless you plan to replay the sane parts in the main release and not transfer your save over, don't skip.

The writers did a masterful job at actually making me hate a certain character.

Yeah, FF hasn't made me hate a villain like this...ever. If Clive doesn't get five minutes in a room with them later, I'll riot.

Its not like Sony aren't used to this. Snatching Final Fantasy from Nintendo and getting FF7 was probably a massive reason why the PS1 annihalated the 64's sales numbers, and I'm sure FFX being a PS2 excludive didn't hurt either

Yeah, I don't even like high fantasy, but it did a great job getting me emotionally invested.

Tbf Sony didn't really "snatch" FF7 from Nintendo. Square simply realized that the scope of the game was too massive for the cartridge medium and they moved the project. Hell, it was 3 CDs on PS1. Even if they cut out all the CG and optimized the shit out of it, it would've been a multi-cartridge N64 release with an MSRP of like $200. It just wasn't tenable.
Still, the end result was the same: it was a massive get for Sony's console and irreparably damaged Nintendo for a generation.
