Why didnt they just have everyone go to the ocean with buckets and scoop the water out? Even if they couldnt empty it, it would relieve the pressure and they could open the hatch and swim up to the top.

That would work, except the sub was designed such that it has to be opened from the outside, so they can't just open the hatch.

It might work, but it's risky. Somebody could drop their ratchet on the way down, and then we'd need to mount a rescue mission for the ratchet to keep up the first rescue mission.

its the same sub. if you put material with small fractures in it under a bunch of pressure then release the pressure, the fractures get bigger. this submarine was never rated for the depths it was operating at, it just took a few trips to implode (probably)

if its a communication error or electrical fire, they just got unlucky. losing communication while deep underwater is common, but for some reason (probably cutting corners) they weren't able to re-establish it this time. They did lose communication with the sub for several hours on a trip last year

Also 6000 people have died in Ukraine since this sub thing started. But no one cares about that in the media obviously.

If it did implode, that's definitely a better outcome than living out your final hours in a cramped space starving in your own filth with a few other people who might be trying to eat you at any time

Are these people thrill seekers or legit just wanting to see what they can find or see from the Titantic itself? Why not send one of those underwater drones that has already pretty much recorded everything? We pretty much seen it all as is from YouTube, Discovery Channel, and other Titanic docs. WHAT the hell can possibly these dudes be doing out there with a potato vehicle and command?

These people were paying like 100k for the trip. Basically when people get that much money they can do anything they want and it requires more stimulation to entertain them. Apparently this sub had issues every single time it went out but people still continued to go on it.

They are the foolish ones. Darwin as said in topic. No amount of money can sway me sorry man but to take that risk is pretty much a death sentence, plus I read a topic or news story about it and said they had to sign some death waiver (really?) and still boggles my mind. I just can't.

Nothing is without risk, obviously, but that doesn't mean these things aren't exceptionally, unjustifiably risky. Especially when you've got somebody like this douche insisting that there's no need to be concerned about safety when there's 10,000 feet of ocean sitting on top of you.

I mean it's some corporate entity(or in this case one particular asshole)ignoring safety precautions from the advice of experts at the expense of their passengers.

There's certainly appropriate comparisons.
