Just killed an S-Rank hunt for 10 million EXP. Am using Mesmerize into Wicked Wheel into Aerial Upheaval for mutiple enemies, and juggling with Rising Flames, Ice Age and Thunderstorm. It's fun. The plot and characters are cool but the combat is so barebones and easy like everyone has said in this topic. It would be forgivable if the RPG elements were better but there's nothing there either. They either needed to double down and make the combat better or make the RPG side better because right now they're both mediocre. Comparing this to DMC feels very disingenuous to DMC, it's nowhere close to that level. It's closer to something like Tales of Arise with a better dodge button. I would say that most of them are just increasingly longer ways of conveying the same information we've been getting the entire game. Moreover, they never top the telling of that idea after the two Morne sidequests. Gameplay wise, though? They're not good, and get increasingly stretched out. Talk to people 3-6 times, go obliterate fodder you've fought before. Over and over and over. The terrible instagram filter they put over everything didn't help either. The entire last area dragged, especially once they run out of new enemy types and you're pretty much fighting the same things over and over. It is literally just too much game with MMO padding which needs to stay in FF14. It's actually handled better in FF14 because they're doing even more to flesh out the world. Gonna have to let it simmer for awhile.I actually really like a lot of the characters (Clive, Jill, Joshua, Dion, Gav) but the story was kind of iffy, but there were some great stories in the side quests. Gameplay was a lot of fun but I would have preferred if it was ~~turn-based~~ and some of the fights towards the end went a little overboard. Also the Eikon fights were a little too long. Music slapped and the graphics were gorgeous of course. Yeah even if the "leaving Torgal behind" alluded to it in retrospect, I didn't expect it and I'm still so upset he didn't get a happy ending, like yeah he sacrified himself to save humanity blah blah blah I wanted the happy ending so bad!!! Somebody definitely messed up somewhere there because I read that, they wrote it so matter-of-factly almost like it's something you should've known by that point, and that was not remotely established anywhere.
