You'd think something like a constant IV drip of Ringers Lactate (which they give in extreme dehydration cases) or a saline solution of some type would at least alleviate some of his condition. I also have diabetes insipidus due to pituitary tumors I had starting at 14. All I have to do for it now is take desmopressin, also known as ddavp twice a day. It is true that without it I'll go through several gallons of water a day, but it usually isn't like this unless he specifically can't or won't take the medicine. Usually when you get it as a child you have to take the medication or you die.
