Netflix is uploading the final batch of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys episodes on September 8, which will finally bring Ash's journey to an end:

Meanwhile, the next Pokemon anime with a brand new protagonist, Pokemon Horizons, is coming later and has a sneak peek on Youtube now:

I'm pleasantly surprised that Liko actually kept her name instead of it being localized to something more western-friendly like Satoshi being changed to Ash all those years ago. That's good news, because it shows that TPCi are using more modern sensibilities when it comes to dubbing the series. After that sneak peek, I'm even more hyped for this new series that I was when it was first announced.

In Japan, yes, they already finished Ash's story and Horizons is like a dozen episodes in already. But the English batch releases on Netflix have been about half a year behind the entire time. So we'll see the end of Ash's journey in September and the first batch of Horizons episodes probably later on in the year.

Yeah, it's been airing weekly on a channel called TeleToon in Canada, and they're almost finished with Journeys. Netflix are just really, really, really stingy about their binge-watch model, to the point where they'll hold on to several already completed episodes to drop them in batches instead of just uploading them weekly or whenever they're ready. It's annoying as hell that weekly releases are so rare for them.

Pokemon To Be a Master is honestly disappointing for what's supposed to be Ash's sendoff. There's barely any tied strings in it at all and was basically just a bunch of Johto-esque fillers. That, combined with the fact that in the final episode Pidgeot rejoins Ash's team, is proof that they're not fully committed to retiring Ash.

Not a fan of her name tbh. It's feels awkward for me to say and is is instance I would have preferred a more localized name.

Sad as it is to see legend come to an end, I think a fresh start will be good for the ongoing franchise. Maybe Ash can make a legendary badass appearance in the future.

tbh always felt it was weird, since she's from Paldea so you'd guess she'd have a more spanish-sounding name. Even weirder that Roy is from Kanto and he's called like that (even in japan)

If you mean just Pokemon Journeys, then it's all on Netflix. If you mean the entire Pokemon anime from the original Indigo League series all the way through Journeys, then that'll be more difficult. The Watch Pokemon app (on mobile devices and Nintendo Switch) technically has every season for free, but it only has a couple of seasons available at a time and rotates through them over time, so you would need to be really patient to watch the whole series that way. Amazon Prime has most of the older seasons as well, but only some of them are included with a Prime subscription while some of them require additional purchases, so it might get pretty expensive. Either way, the most recent batches of episodes are Netflix exclusive and don't show up in those other places until that temporary exclusivity wears off.

Note that this is all the English dub. There's never been (and likely never will be) a way to legally watch the Japanese version of the anime outside of Japan.

I cannot comprehend how you think that means theyre not fully committed to retiring ash.

Yeah it was just a big fan service moment as well as Ash actually keeling a promise people have been joking he lied about for years.

I heard people saying that the director "confirmed" Ash was returning, but

1) He stopped working on the anime once Ash left
2) His message really felt more like a goodbye than a "we'll bring him back"

Yeah he said he might return far in the future.
