Yes, mainly just because they added the ability to somewhat control your other party members. Plus the DLCs give actual background to the characters

too bad they canned the rest of the planned dlc so u can't get all the character backgrounds in game

Lol you know its bad when there is no charactaziton for your characters in the main game. The story is mostly driving around stopping at a few places. Get on a boat and bang your at the end

It was so bad they had to write a book to give people the real story of the game. They were giving the story through the DLC but everything got axed.

The improvements made were really only to the back half of the game. The DLC explains what the hell the rest of your party was doing when they all vanish for a while, and the Royal edition adds content to the last chunk of the game that was cut initially. If you didn't enjoy the first half of the game, most of the changes aren't really going to change your opinion on the game overall. But if you were kind of enjoying the first half and found the second half confusing and rushed then it might be worth playing it again.

It's better in the same way getting rid of 5% of your cancer is better.

but paint a turt with gold paint, and guess what, its STILL a turd. just a shiny one.

They added an ending, that made it a little different..and they added a 4WD car, which I really love.

The DLC, I hated, because they took away the team, I wanted my TEAM to do stuff.

some of the travel seemed a little streamed lined.... i mean SOME.

so sure it got better, and the new game plus, is good. I almost have a plat that for that game.

I am missing only 2 things, fishing, and that big monster in the mountain.

and fishing was pretty good, compared to like 5 other fishing mini games. but I just
do not FISH in rpgs.

i dont know. I remember it having some of the absolute worst sidequests in the history of gaming.

That's a problem with most open world games tho. It's hard to experience the story if you're just running around exploring. But the feeling of camaraderie between the friends just cruising through the world and setting up camp and fighting monsters was so great.

No it wasnt. It was even worse than most open worlds, because it had even worse quest design and the world felt even emptier.

It was fun until the new wore off after 20-30 hours, like most open worlds.

Yeah I don't understand people who like 15's open world. It was so bad. The side quests were awful, the exploration was awful, the "towns" were gas stations and the only people you could dialogue with were shop/restaurant keepers who'd say hello when you click the vendor button and that's all. You're not rewarded for exploring the barren wasteland there's just enemies that you use the world's most brainless combat system to dispatch.

15 was improved a lot since its launch, but it's still an unfinished product that feels like it's being held together by tape and rubber bands.

And aside from the mechanics and content, there's not much they really could've done to fix the story beyond scrapping it completely and starting from scratch. The added story they added through patches and DLC is nice, and finally manages to give some characterization to the main cast, but again...it's more of a band-aid than anything else.

Games still needed a longer dark world. Expanded dark world. Id imagine this was planned before they cut everything for time.

Should have went meet up at hammerhead to find Prompto with his quest, meet up with Gladiolus at Lestallum with his quest, then find ignis in the caves somewhere with his quest, and ofcourse alot more dark world hunts. Then the final confrontation.

Instead they just meet Noctis at Hammerhead and go straight to the final boss. Lame as hell.

But instead of improving the dark world in the Royal addition they did superficial things instead. Impvoing the dark would would have been them basically admitting the story was unfinished. So instead you just get a longer final dungeon....yay.
