I would say the 2 Dollar Bill. I find it to be pretty underrated. I like the concept of it. I find it neat how there is a $20, while there is a $2, as well as a $5 & $50 and $1 & $10. $2 bills dont get used as much as the other currencys somehow. I think its got a neat design, too.

I used to get it from my Grandpa when I was a kid. Banks still have them sometimes. I find them fun to spend.

How about you all? :)

Thats not a dollar bill. Its a coin. If I wanted to make a thread on US coins, I would have putted that one in the US coins category. This one is about US dollar bills. If you want to do a US coin one, feel free to do so. :)

If I'm not allowed to say a quarter, then I guess $20 is the most useful to carry around. Good balance between cheap and effective, has been for a while.

$2 is still in print

Also you forgot to pair $10 with $100

I was just comparing to on how the $1 pairs with $10, $2 with the $20, and the $5 pairing with the $50 with the first 3 numbers being a single digit.

Yes, the $10 does pair with the $100 while the $50 pairs with the $500. $500 Bills and higher are not in circulation anymore, however, but they are still legal tender.

$20 feels like the most practical amount when it comes to physical currency.

$100s have been a pain in the ass due to people trying to pay me while delivering pizzas and me telling them I can't break them.

Shouldnt this be whats your favorite bank note?

Saying "Currency" implies thr US uses things other then USD for everyday transactions.

I guess I like $50s these days. They're useful like $20s used to be and still somewhat novel.

As for coins, anything smaller than a quarter can go to hell. I leave them in little stacks around vending machines when I get them - maybe it makes some kid happy. If I find pennies in my pocket at home I'll throw them away - the US has got to stop wasting copper on those.

The one dollar bill. The design has not changed since series 1963, the first year of issue for $1 Federal Reserve Notes. Because of this I have found in circulation one note of every series.

As for design I love the orange $10 the most. I like brand new tens because they looks so shiny and nice.

This. Anything larger and it starts to become too hard to break in certain places, anything smaller and you wind up carrying too much of it around to make larger purchases.

I generally carry a few $20s and maybe one $5 or $10 and a couple singles for a bit of flexibility, but $20s are pretty much the go-to baseline.

20s are the most convenient to me generally, i only carry higher just in case someones card machine is down. If purely aesthetic id probably say 100 i suppose.

"Denomination" is probably the best word to use here. It's largely interchangeable when dealing with US money because they're all bills/bank notes in the scale we're examining here, but for general purposes it's the most appropriate word choice.

That's because it's a Gold Certificate, not a Federal Reserve Note. The government had to keep a quantity of gold in the reserve equal to the dollar value of the certificates in circulation. And you could cash it in and receive that amount of gold any time you wanted.

They also used to have Silver Certificates. Same idea, but backed by silver. They were kind of boring looking.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/3/2/6/AAQwHjAAEtGu.jpg

Both bills are still legal tender, but you can no longer cash them in for metal. Generally their collector's value is higher than their face value.

If we're talking history the 1896 Educational note series is probably my favorite. I don't own any though. The $1 is my favorite of those.
