i figured everyone was at 50 messages (and 50 topics) per page but i think i may be wrong

Poll should've just been "50" and "Other (specify)" for options.

If a 100 option existed I'd probably stay at 50 just out of tradition (it's been over 20 years), but I'd increase my topic list number as high as they allowed it. Give me the entire Board 8 on one page.
