Imagine Doomguy shooting demons with guns that fire bullets shaped like tetrominos, and then the demons slap them away with Pong paddles.

For some reason I thought it was gonna be about trilogies, but nevermind.

I like Doom and Pong, but they are 100% *not* timeless.

Even Tetris is debatable, because the original iteration of Tetris plays very differently to modern incarnations. That said, original Tetris is still a heck of a lot of fun, so I'll allow it.

If I had to pick two games to replace them on that list, I'd go with Super Mario Bros., and... I dunno, Pac Man, maybe? I feel like there's a better choice for the last entry, but it's not coming to me.

If we push things into the 90s, I'd put Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, and Tetris Attack as my three.

Indeed. It was novel, and that's about the extent of its value. Pretty much everything released since is more entertaining.

Doom 1 has better level design though

people are still finding unique ways to customize doom to this day. the things you can actually do with it are kind of ridiculous. in that respect, i feel like it absolutely deserves to be here.

I wonder how many people on this site have actually played any of those games, let alone all of them.

(I actually owned a copy of ET and have played Superman 64, but even I never played Big Rigs)

I played Superman 64 until I super speed clipped through the floor and couldnt die in some warehouse level. The last checkpoint before that was a long ways back and I just gave up.

Big Rigs is fun to mess around with once.
