Do you guys know how to learn scrolls as Wizard? Do you need a special NPC?

If you're at the appropriate level to learn the spell, you just right click the scroll and click Learn. There will be varying gold costs.

Me, too. After I decided on only taking a few tadpoles, I take the ultra special one and some extra powers. Now I'm flying around in the city. ;_; I probably doomed myself.

It is, but he does have surprisingly wide skill coverage with that headband.

Also I checked and Metamagic works on scrolls.

Some observations today:

• If you're willing to give up body loot, chasm instant kills are deliciously powerful. I defeated Ethel the hag in one turn by Misty Step-ing to her and casting Gust of Wind
• While I was a little disappointed by lore stuff for warlock, Pact of the Chain really seems to be the one to take IMO. Summon Imp gets you an invisible flying scout that you lose nothing if it dies. Familiars can't do the 'Use' action or pick stuff up, but they can attack objects such as doors.

And that's a wrap on Act 2. That was quite a sequence.

Does the githyanki patrol in act 1 drop anything good?

I thought I could fight them later but turns out they disappear

There's a concept in DnD known as "the five minute day" which describes tabletop groups resting every encounter since they have a lot of spell slot users. That's partly why stuff like arcane recovery and short rests have been developed. I like to push myself to use those before I long rest to pace out the cutscenes at camp. That said, I don't think there's any problem with it except it costs 80 supplies to long rest (at least on tactician), and supposedly if you have a really urgent quest active like somebody running off to fight something then it can autofail

Thanks for this tidbit. I'm playing on normal mode so it only costs 40 supplies.

I'm thinking of getting eldritch blast through either mage initiate warlock feat (im a sorc) or just doing a few levels in warlock. A more powerful cantrip should help me out maybe

The fastest way to do this(at least if you want to learn multiple at once) is to open the character screen, click on the spell book icon on the top, and then on the screen where you can swap your spells around outside of combat(yeah, unlike tabletop you don't have to declare a long rest to swap spells) Wizards specifically will have a grey book icon on the right. Clicking this will bring up a list of all the spell scrolls you have that they can learn, along with the prices to learn each of them. Just click the box next to the ones you want to pay the gold and learn the spell.

Nothing to surprising here, except maybe Dragonborn being the most 4th picked race, but cool to see what players are picking. The frogs being dead last is expected I think and humans and (half) elves being at the top.

A little weird to see cleric so low and paladin so high

The issue with Humans it that they are kinda meh. Half-Elves are literally better (and prettier) Humans with the changes they made to races.

Cleric is so low probably because everyone plans to just take Shadowheart with them already. No need to double up on classes when you've already got one. Paladin is probably high because it offers a good blend of being super strong and good at Charisma checks, which you need a lot of.

The issue with Humans it that they are kinda meh. Half-Elves are literally better (and prettier) Humans with the changes they made to races.

While the race's where never perfectly balanced, the Tasha's thing made a lot of races super optimal because of secondary bonuses that could now apply to classes they would have previously been bad at. I'll be honest, this is still better than having things like say, Tiefling Barbarians being gimped in power because they lack +2 Strength.

Just encountered a character arc-breaking bug: if while on the Mountain Path on the way to the Githyanki crche you read the letter on one of the Absolute Zealot bodies with Wyll in your party, it will cause an exclamation point to appear above his head like he wants to speak to you. However, when you speak to him no new dialogue options appear. Evidently this lasts the whole game and prevents advancing his storyline. Therefore, read the letter with him outside of the party, and then bring him back in after.

I just lost about 3 hours of progress so you don't have to! Please don't do what I did.

Just killed the hag and now I'm gonna tackle the goblin camp forreal this time. Knowing that I can't do a true stealth assassination of the leaders changed up my plan.

Gonna stealth kill Gut, set up bombs around the one dude, then recruit the druid, then blow up the dude, then kill the drow. hopefully it goes according to plan lol

I'm sad that Volo leaves after the eye surgery

I have the Wyll dialogue bug too, but I'm pretty sure it happened after I rescued Mizora from the mind flayer pod at the end of Act 2, and I didn't have him in the party during that.

I'd recommend swapping kills two and three.

Damn that fucking sucks. I've played for 40+ hours and have yet to have the game crash.

I have had some weird bugs happen though which made me close out of the game losing some progress. So effectively the same shit. Hope they're working on some major fixes.

It is a little annoying having to save every 5 minutes but that's pretty much the nature of the genre. I wish their autosaves were more abundant. The last autosave I ran into on my current playthrough was an hour and a half ago smh

Been putting way too much of my life into this game. Finished the goblin camp. Cheesed the fight against the red dude by having everyone chill on the rafters and pelt them with ranged attacks. >_>

Tried to do the "find the creche" sidequest but got absolutely assblasted in every possible route. Constantly fail deception checks and when the fight starts I get party wiped in one or two rounds. Just gonna...hold off on that one for a while lol.

In BG3, you can do that any time you want outside of combat. When you open a character's menu the middle of the three icons near the top of the menu should be the Spellbook. From there you can swap things around. There's also a shortcut on that screen for Wizards that will show all learnable scrolls in your inventory along with the prices to copy them into your spellbook.

I started playing around with classes and made Karlach a 9 Berserker/3 Eldritch Knight. This was done exclusively because I love having her Darth Vader a greatsword.

You can move on to the Underdark and still do that set of quests, so it's entirely possible to grab another level or two.

There will be a very noticeable warning before you do something that takes away access to the area.

Holy shit this game doesn't really start until you hit lvl 5. I'm plowing through mfs now.

I'm sure that's gonna be short lived but the power boost is crazy.

I think that's just 5e. In Solasta I was struggling until about lvl 6, then I was winning every fight handily.

I really wanted Minthara as a companion, but I didn't want to kill everyone at the grove. Not to mention it'd cost me 2, maybe 3 companions: Wyll, Halsin (I don't really care for them, but I don't want to needlessly kill them, either), and Karlach (In one extra save I made, I agreed to help Minthara with her plans, but Karlach got pissy at me, threatening to stop me if I went ahead with it. I didn't want to find out if that would happen, so I reloaded).

I was not expecting The Underdark to be so huge and have a spot with traders and..a mind flayer hanging around. I haven't even found the point of no return spot and when I checked out the mountain pass it was just the one fight.

there's some pretty good loot down here though

also, if you get the tadpole extracted do you lose your illithid powers? I've been putting it off as long as possible >_>

Alright, I'm curious, is Shadowheart's new hair supposed to be white, or is that a bug? Because her portrait changed to show the new style, but it's still black there.

I've done everything in Act 1 to my knowledge except necromancer tome and Zhant hideout and I'm still level 4 and get a message that going to the mountain pass would be "brutally difficult" at my level of 4. Kinda interesting, I wonder if experience rewards change at all between difficulty and if you'd get that message on a lower one

Tbh I don't know what Hex other than Strength is even worth using? Like why would I use Hex (Charisma) ever?

yeah I feel like the game is slightly misleading in this aspect. I talked my way out of the fight with the Gith on the bridge and then tried to check out the mountain pass and it gave me the point of no return warning. I figured I'd check out a little bit of the Underdark before getting the same message but what I've explored so far is probably half the size of the world map. this feels like a more epic journey than going through the mines of moria in LotR

I turned her into a paladin because I wasn't impressed with Wyll and want someone to 2nd class into Bard later on >_>

I've seen some complaints about her dialogue feeling out of place but considering her background I think it makes sense. if anything, everyone else in the world is too pleasant-mouthed

not to mention everyone else seems rather chill about maybe turning into mind flayers

The only companion I'm not too fond of is Gale really. He's just kind of boring. Maybe I'm just racist against humans.
