for me, weebs like neon are obnoxious which almost makes me hate anime by association and anime character designs are mostly terrible and overdesigned

Part of that drama was from SE's supposed "ethics department" which felt like Tifa's chest needed to be revised to begin with. If it was just a redesign for the tone of the game, it wouldn't have been a big deal. Also, the dismissive attitude towards Tifa's original design, low-key supports my original point.

people definitely complained about pyra and mythra and xenoblade 2's more curvy characters. there was a twitter meme for awhile about people trying to "fix" pyra's design which basically worked out to adding more clothes and reducing her chest. also a lot of complaining about the ice rabbit lady. yes, all of these people got mocked like the kotaku guy but they absolutely are always floating around and its a strange thing to pretend it doesnt happen

at the end of the day i do not overwhelmingly care about the size of an anime womans boobs because i am a gay man, but the 2010s really saw a ramping up of weird sex negativity towards adult characters in anime styled stuff and the word "exploitation" got thrown around a to and it always struck me as really gross. its begun to settle back down in recent years ive noticed and its becoming less popular, but its still here and has been for years

Maybe I'm just biased cuz it's more fair but I thought the beetle version was better overall, both in fan service and gameplay lol. Plus Kiryu seeing whole game as an innocent children's card game while Majima is like "Bruh, do you not see those titties and erotic poses!?" is just endlessly hilarious to me >_>

Which is bound to be a problem, in a series that wasn't originally built on any notion of realism. FFVII is a massive anarchism of steampunk, 1920s America, classic medieval fantasy JRPG world, & mild cyberpunk. You party consists of a talking dog, a talking cat riding ...a robot thing?, a magic cleric girl, man with an arm cannon, a vampire, & a kid ninja. Imposing realism on it, was always going to be a divisive act.

the problem with pyra's and mythra's designs for me wasn't the sexualization specifically but rather it didn't fit the tone of the game or at least the tone I wanted the game to have. the game gets pretty serious as it goes on so it was kind of immersion breaking to see constant upskirts from mythra and cartoonish bolt-ons from pyra in these cutscenes. xenoblade 1 is one of my favorite games as well and the sexualization was way lower so the whiplash of xb2 was jarring. I dont think these unreasonable opinions

im not gonna lie, i have never found a xenoblade game particularly attention grabbing in any real aspect and I've never finished one with 2 probably being the closest I came. I like how colorful and bright and varied looking xb2 and 3's characters are compared to the first game's though, it's the same reason I like older final fantasy games character designs compared to 12/14/16

i havent played 3 yet but the reason xb2 designs were varied was because a lot of the characters were designed by different artists. I think that is a cool concept but there was a lot of clashing as a result. here is rex and and a random npc. they dont even look like the same species:

I asked you to show me where someone is talking about characters that, quote, look and act like adults, and you came to me with a 15 year old and someone with a very ambiguous age (which I see as an adult, coincidentally. Adult and Minor may be the only two age groups that matter as far as sex is concerned. But teenagers are absolutely their own valid age group and should not be considered child or adult. A 15-year-old is old enough to drive with a permit. They are 3 years removed from sleeping with any consenting adult, electing the US president, or enlisting in the army if they so choose to. That's not a child. That may not be an adult, not yet, but the maturity gap between a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old is immeasurably closer than that of a 15-year-old and the 5-year-old people like you seem to pretend they are.

Calling someone in their mid-to-late teens a child is like calling a fetus a sperm cell.

take trials of mana (good game by the way) there is no reason for angela to dress how she does hell even rieze has several class outfits that are super skimpy for no reason (thoe she thankfully does have a few that look good)
