A former employee came out with her experiences working for him and LMG and it's worse than you could imagine. Overworked, micromanaged, sexually harassed on multiple occasions, insulted, belittled. It got to the point where she began self-harming and ended up causing a serious leg injury just so she would avoid having to go into work.

And on Reddit there's someone pointing out how apparently LTT fanboys caused a child to commit suicide, and then the child's mother to commit suicide shortly after.

Other than sexual harassment, if actually sexual harassment, these are pretty weak allegations. "Overworked," "micromanaged," "insulted," and "belittled" are are nebulous allegations that are entirely subjective absent concrete examples. People don't cause others to self-harm. They do that themselves. If you're working for a YouTube channel, moreover, you're likely in a position to leave the environment if you don't like it.

I'd be curious how LTT "fanboys" (so not LTT) caused a child and the child's mother to commit suicide.

Why would we expect conditions working for a company that makes YouTube videos to be better than any other type of company?

Because of your parasocial relationship with the host(s).

One person's "overworked" is another person's "highly motivated." "Insulted" for one person can be "banter" or "motivation" for another.

The link provided sounds like a horrible grind with a lot of high pressure to produce content because the algorithm favors constant new content. Otherwise it sounds like a poor personality fit.

I mean the person directly points out how an employee spoke up about Linus being abusive, and Linus himself went over to the employee and started accusing them of being mentally ill and being an attention seeker.

Accusations of sexual assault are serious, and should be reported to the authorities. If substantiated, they should be prosecuted. There's no leeway on that.

Accusations of name calling, belittling, etc., if true, are indicative of poor management, and a poor working environment. Sadly, these are legion. I don't expect companies that produce YouTube videos to be immune from this kind of toxicity. I think other people do, because they are invested in the persona of the presenter(s).

I actually find his content annoying. I just think someone complaining that a work environment forced them to self-harm, etc., because of fairly minor personality clashes is over the top. The internet has given everyone main character syndrome, which means they have incredibly thin skin and cannot handle the slightest difficulties. The allegations paint the person as finding their "dream job" - very much a main character concept - and not being able to handle the psychological impact of it not being a dream come true but in fact a high stress slog.

I have a ton of empathy. Empathy doesn't mean you have to feel cheer someone for not being able to handle the adult world and then trying to weaponize their disappointment against others by blaming them for self-harm and accusing them of "sexual harassment" (which, unless I missed something, consisted of someone using the word "bitch" and saying "cool your tits," which is not even a female-specific saying). I feel bad that the person seemingly lacked the social skills and managerial skills to handle the job, but also lacked the maturity to just find another job because she had the expectation that this job was a "dream come true."

"Toxic" is a conclusion however. People being human doesn't make them "toxic." Toxic has to be the most overused word in modern language, up there with gaslighting. And they're overused again because too many people have main character syndrome and can't handle when they're criticized.

Just to be clear here, you're calling these allegations 'fairly minor personality clashes':

-I had come forward stating I had been inappropriately grabbed multiple times in the office, amongst other issues.
-I was told to "calm my tits", "stop being such a bitch", and other comments to similar effects.
-I was told I was chunky, fat, ugly, stupid. I was called "[r-word]" I was called a "[homophobic slur]"
-I was asked about my sexual history, my boyfriends sexual history, "how I liked to fuck". I was told that certain issues were "sexual tension" and I should just "take the co-worker out on a coffee date to ease it out

It doesn't excuse the behavior and the treatment of their workers though. It seems like Linus and team is so used to their small company dynamic that they don't know how to behave in a bigger company. Their HR being runned by upper management of 2 people is also really weird.

You are missing a big component about how mental health works in general.

There's a whole video of "what's it like to work for LTT" and the #1 answer is overworked and rushed (then the obvious, but we love it here!!!). Obviously a very toxic workplace. The "just quit if you don't like the treatment" crowd and the "just move if you don't like the politics" crowd are awfully similar.

Madison was instantly my favorite LTT person after her PC upgrade video. Sad that the place seems to have become a Canadian hellhole. :(
