Would probably put Back in Time in the upper half of winners (6th-8th range), which considering how great a lot of them are is commendable. CYFTS just would have been 3rd or 4th (fittingly right next to Ys 8 Sunshine Coastline).

The bad this year:

• I've been missing a lot due to IRL circumstances.
• Only a small amount of personal nominations made it in, and got knocked out early. One of the nominations was in part allegorical about the chaos and flames of the final day of nominations (TMNT arcade Fire, which is COOL but not a great song for a competition setting.)
• I killed Shatter. AGAIN.
• I only had stakes in like, two of the retirees by the time that round rolled around. Sonic R is meh for me and just sounds so similar to the rest of its own soundtrack.
• I didn't really add much to my personal playlist this year compared to the last two.

The good:

• One of said retirees was the second placer, so good showing from it.
• I am ALWAYS a fan of a good Castlevania track getting exposure, even if someone completely nailed that it's much better in context.
• Running my birthday list during the middle of the voting helped me set aside some possible tracks for later.
• I got to meet at least one voter in person at SGDQ, so that was cool (and his track nomination was one that I also saved for later.)

Back In Time likely clears Endeavour, but falls short of Papiliones on my list. I think that puts it at 7th best champion. I am probably the only one here that thinks the champions list is so much better than the runner ups list.

Well, that certainly was a rollercoaster of a contest for me; lots of highs and lows and ultimately ending up... squarely in the middle. Back in Time isn't a song I would have wanted as champion early on, but in the late stages I definitely preferred it to many of the alternatives. Overall, I found last year's crop of retirees and finalists to be way more inspiring.

I will at least remember this contest for giving me my first nomination retiree (Northeast Frost Street), and actually my first nomination in any music contest on any site to win multiple matches in a row. Its run didn't end too well, but it was fun while it lasted. The rest of my results weren't too great, with 3 R2s and 2 R1s, but I was happy to at least get one win for one of my all-time favorites. (Frozen Moonlight)

All in all, decent contest that's ending on a pleasant note.

Good contest! Thanks for hosting. Back in Time was only ranked twelth of the sixteen retirees, but it should be more like ninth or tenth place now. Last Specter would have been a really disappointing champion, IMO... like, it would have been a bottom three champion in my book. Back in Time has grown on me recently, so I can tolerate it as a champion.

This would also place 16th out of 17 on my champion ranking. My 17th (EXSPHERE) is at least super interesting/daring though, which this is not.

Did Back in Time seriously only win by 1 vote? Haha.

Back in Time is pretty great. I wish that Un Deux Trois went all the way, especially since I could've bragged that God-Shattering Star tied with the champion, but Back in Time is a fun song and I'd take it over most of the retirees.

This was a great third year! I obviously care the most that Moonlight made Top 8 out of the ashes, but I'm also very happy that Back in Time won (my favorite Sonic R song since a while now) and that Layton performed amazingly, as well as seeing Dancing Mad and Staff Roll finally retiring. Not everything was perfect, but I'm more than satisfied. I'm also happy I got more involved than past contests, and I look forward to be on future editions!

Anyways, if you liked my arts, I will draw a few things I couldn't do during these last days, and hopefully finish them this month. Be on the lookout for it.

Edit: Thanks to Deo, Tox and anyone on charge of organizing this! The massive work behind such a massive amount of songs must go recognized. You guys do great.

Woo I like Back in Time. A sincere thanks for running this DEO, and all others who helped behind the scenes. There'll always be some results to be disappointed about but I had a fun time and discovered a lot of cool music, what more could you want! And IMO the spirit of Rouge lives on through Back in Time.

I'm sorry this was both of your guys' experience. I def had some pretty rough moments in the contest myself (and in prior contests) to the point where I ranted on and on about them, so I think I get how you feel.

Hopefully vgmc 18 goes better for you, lefty. And for you, DireKrow, I hope that if you do ever return, you'll find the vgmc you return to to be much more rewarding. Fwiw, Luma Pools was one of my favorite discoveries in the contest! It will always go down as more remembered and loved across the gaming community than probably most vgmc retirees anyways. :)

passing through the forest is wonderful but i am really warming up to back in time now lmao, i think i prefer it, but not by too much
second one is an easy decision, although not particularly a passionate one as they are kinda the two songs that got far in the contest that just felt okay to me, but i do appreciated tfat much more than staff roll. i do think i am also warming up a bit to tfat but not like LOADS. not rlly my thing exactly but enjoyable.
