Like you can just type in what temp you want each burner to reach and then it will do as such. Im sure theres some high end stove tops that have this, but its kinda stupid its not just standard for everything tbh. It would cut down on so much wasted power.

to be more clear, Im talking about the stove top, not the oven. Every oven already has this.

Could be talking out of my ass here, but would different metals have differing temperature ratings?

Its a good question if only because the greedy assholes would probably charge $4000 for a stove like that, so if theyre capable of doing it, I dont know why they havent.

Its always been a pet peeve of mine that its so vague. Recipes wont even give you the number, they just say medium, medium high, etc. I have an infrared thermometer to temp the surface of the pan, so I have a vague idea of how hot I want it to ne to cook various things that way.

Outside which is where I typically cook, I can use the same thermometer for the griddle, and I have an ambient probe I can clip to my grill grate, the dome thermometer, as well as both wired and wireless internal probes I can leave in meat, and an instant read thermometer to spot check as well. All but the dome temp are transmitted over WiFi to my phone / tablet for remote monitoring.
