All these potentially cool maybe historic areas but you look left or right everything is just high end shopping.

Everywhere is very crowded.

I'm sure theres some places around but for the most part most things dont feel particularly local.

Fenway was cool. The most local feeling area around but just a short walk away it loses that feel pretty quickly.

Maybe could see more on a larger trip but on just a few days trying to take in the area with a brief look i dont think i recommend.

I'm guessing you didn't go to north end? Basically feels like Europe. Lots of other cool neighborhoods all around the touristy areas, prob the best tourist areas in a major city in general (although there is also that shopping district that I think you're talking about). The surrounding towns are great to visit too. Cambridge is nice and trendy. The ferry to Hingham is awesome, you end up with fresh seafood, and the various island stops have that kitschy roadside attraction vibe.

It's been a while since I was there so I don't really remember the names of specific restaurants, but I did love the aquarium and the Museum of Science

I also spent a full day in Salem since it's so close, which was also a blast (highly recommend Flying Saucer Pizza Company in Salem for a good place to eat)

I think what I liked most was just the vibes of the area though. The public transportation was a lot better than other big cities I've been to, it has a lot of the nice things about bigger cities without feeling as overcrowded and was just very pleasant to be in, especially along the water

Everywhere by the water was fucking packed. From what i heard ot is due to cruise ship season. That plus a LOT of people from Los Angeles. Dodgers brought in a big crowd.

One nice thing about Boston: stuff still stays open late. Plenty of places open til 10 or 11 or later. In LA few places have returned to prepandemic hours and most everywhere starts dying by 9. And especially in downtown LA a lot of local restaurants have either cut out breakfast or dinner hours depending.

This is similar to how I feel about my local metropolitan area. I get into the city at most once a year.

I've been there for PAX and for work each a handful of times. I like the vibes of back bay and south Boston, and the commons.

The public transit is leagues better than what I'm used to.

Good public transit by necessity. I think I'd go broke in a week trying to park a car around here.

Everywhere is mass Dunkin' (sometimes with Donuts). My hotel has a starbucks, across the corner is another Starbucks, and a short block away is another Starbucks.

I was out in portland a few weeks ago and their public parking was fantastic. Like 2.50 for 8 hours.

The homeless problem is real though :(

They are like that on the west coast too.

Boston is the weird one because most starbucks are dunkin. But there are still Starbucks.

This location just happens to have a big cluster of Starbucks.

Unfortunately just a couple quick stops before heading home.

I've made it to 3 east coast states this year and I'd love to really start traveling more(ohio, pennsylvania, mass). Want to break out of the bad habit set on me by my parents where the only two places they want to go are vegas and hawaii.

Definitely recommend the north end area and down a bit south from there. Once you notice the shops turning high end you can stop. Everything was pretty neat til you get south of Faneuil Hall. Very literally because the south side of the public area there starts with the dumb high end shops.

Hey I live there!

fanueil hall is always nice. The public gardens and swan boats are always tourists faves. Lots of places to get good food or drinks. Museum of science is fun to kill some time. The aquarium is very underwhelming. Some good breweries around too

oh and definitely check out the north end. My fav restaurant is cantina Italiana but la famiglia is great too. Reginas for fantastic pizza
