"Hardcore vegan! hehe. It's something that means a lot to me... I'm hoping to date somebody who is also a vegan but it's not necessarily a deal breaker. No pressure, but I'd love to see what you order for today's meal.

Just kidding!" ;)

Will you see her again?

Vegan is a little hardcore. Vegetarian is fine with me. My fiance is basically vegetarian plus fish every great once in awhile.

She doesn't care what I eat, but I certainly eat less meat now.

This is how I feel. Vegan is a little too hardcore for me. I'd for sure date a vegetarian though, and I've even been curious about the vegetarian lifestyle myself.

As long as she proceeds to stuff my face with things like tasty fruits, I wouldn't mind.

I don't like veggies, though. A girl into nothing but veggies is a turn-off for me.

Nah thats a pass. My brother had a vegan and then after that a gluten-free partner and I saw how annoying that shit can be. Major dietary restrictions like that are a red flag for me.

Veganism is an objectively better diet plan than vegetarianiam, keto, Paleo, or the carnivore diet. But it's very hard to maintain & can be expensive, usually people just are a bit up their own ass about it which has poisoned the well for people when it comes up.

But it's very hard to maintain & can be expensive,

been vegan for almost two years. it's only hard if you aren't in control of your food (ie company provided meals, restaurants, etc). my grocery bill decreased significantly because my main sources of protein are cheap (tofu and beans). the only real 'expensive' part of a vegan diet are the faux meats, which i rarely eat.

What if you don't like tofu, & beans can provide decent protein but AFAIK you have to supplement them with other protein sources still don't you? Cause I know Gardein & those vegan products are pretty good but they have gotten expensive, so you just have to meal prep pretty much everything right?

tofu tastes like what you cook it with. the only 'weird' thing about tofu is the texture. when i crumble it up it's barely noticeable in my food and when fried properly the texture is on point. but anyway.

i take supplements for B12 and iron. the last two physicals I've had since going vegan had great results and my bloodwork came back great (ie no deficiencies).

i cook most of my own food, yes. i do have some processed food laying around the house (cans of soup, frozen foods, etc) for situtations where I need to eat but don't have time/energy to cook

Used to date a girl who was vegetarian, but she was also the "just kidding" type - i.e. she wanted me to eat more vegetarian stuff, but didn't get all pissy if I cooked myself steak and eggs.

She wasn't too fussed herself either; she didn't get pissy because the bag her food came in was made of leather or smth, and she didn't mind if her quorn stuff was cooked on a grill that'd just done some burgers and sausages etc.

I actually quite enjoyed the dynamic we had, she made some quite nice quorn stuff which was a nice change from my meat-based diet, we "compromised" on pescatarian foods, and occasionally when I was cooking a full English, particularly when she was hungover, she'd ask for a bacon sarnie delivered to the bedroom in exchange for some TOU violations.

It's pretty clear that we won't be compatible based on the first post-- I have nothing against vegans, and I even went vegetarian for awhile in my early 20s, but I'm not willing to deal with someone that is a self-described hardcore vegan.

Looks don't equal chemistry though. If you find you have chemistry with someone who happens to be vegan, and you can find a way to make it work, go for it. I don't like this "swipe left/right" (whatever it is) culture where a single imperfection is cause to move on.

For me, the vegan thing is fairly major. And there are plenty more fish in the sea. I wouldnt want to be with somebody if I felt I was settling.

Its a major flaw for me, as I love to grill / smoke / barbecue meat with a live fire outside, and my partner being unwilling to try my cooking would just be a massive hole in my life.

No go.

Even health / financial issues aside, food is a pretty big part of most people's background/culture.
Vegan is too big of a difference that I don't think I can accommodate and still be happy with my life.

It's essentially asking me to reject a big part of who I am (as well as that of my family / culture / etc etc).
