It was amazing. Great ending to the show.

I have it on the DVR, it's on Adult Swim again tonight if you want to watch it.

There are still a couple unanswered questions, and a couple characters dont show up that I wish had, but I thought it was a great ending to the show. Tied most things up brilliantly.

i got the physical release and it came with a cool poster too

My fear is that I barely remember anything from the show so I won't be caught up to date with the movie.

Yeah, you need to be caught up. It doesnt hold your hand or catch you up. It goes directly from the last episode.

And that's why I respect the creators about that, but it just means I have to actually dedicate time to research, watch the series again.

Yup. They did their best to cram an entire season into a movie. You can tell there could have been more and not all questions were answered but they couldn't have done it better.

While working on season 8, the execs cancelled the show. Couple years after, they green lit a movie which allowed the creators to wrap up the show. Movie was released in July.

I was as good a finale as I could've hoped for out of a feature-length movie instead of a full final season. I never really doubted that they'd deliver, though; the only time I slightly started to think they were losing their touch was during the first half of the S7 opener, but then of course the end of the ep and the entire rest of the season absolutely killed it. Plus they hit that sweet spot of putting a ribbon on the series while also leaving things just open-ended enough to continue onward, if the stars align and they ever again get blessed with a studio supportive enough to pick up the IP.

The only mildly disappointing unresolved thread imo is that we didn't get to see one of my personal favorite fantheories, which was a young Bud Manstrong revealed as the true culprit of the Movie Night Massacre, having accidentally seen the Blue Morpho blackmail tape and being driven insane via his trademark sexual repression. But even if that's how things actually happened, said scene would have been a major shoehorn given how the plot of the movie turned out.

It's good, but it's got the same problem the metalocalypse movie had.

You can see the connective tissue where it should have been a season and everything had more room to breathe and everything had just a bit more time before moving on.

it answered a lot of questions, but not in a satisfying way. It wouldn't hurt so much if fans waited 3-10 years between each season.
