He brought his show back during the last writer's strike like 15 years ago. IIRC he may have scrapped the opening monologue, and instead of ending the show with the "New Rules" segment, he just read questions that people emailed the show and asked his panel to comment.

Sure, why not be the sole person responsible for your show getting cancelled.

I have no problems with talk shows operating during a writers strike as long as scabs aren't used.

Used to be a regular viewer of Real Time. Right up until the Trump thing. Then it stopped being entertaining and more of an embarrassment. I found it painful to watch.

Yes, and in that message he says that the writers have important issues that he hopes are addressed to their satisfaction but there are a lot of other people who are out of work if the show is shut down. He didnt say the writers need to go back to work. You guys are making that part up in your never ending quest to make everything as bad as you possibly can even if you have to twist it.

What's the alternative here, expect everyone to lose their homes and go hungry as martyrs? Pray to the ghosts of Marx and Engles to solve everything? Pay them out of his pocket ao they can stay afloat while the show is off the air and just delay option 1?

Neoliberalism is about thinking the paramount role of the government is to provide market competition all while slashing social safety nets, not a catch all term for people to the right of leftists or anyone who isn't antiwork.

At no point did I say the writers demands should not be met or that I side with the corporate fat cats and frankly neither has Bill.

Considering Bill has expressed support for the writers this isn't a fair comparison at all.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to dislike or even hate Bill Maher. Making this decision isn't one of them.
