I never thought about it before, but I wonder if the Konami programmers ever watched beyond the pilot mini-series. The turtle soup quote appears in at least two of the games. The Neutrinos, who never returned, had cameos in Tournament Fighters. And the "My toe!" animation from Turtles in Time is from the pilot.

Some of the enemies are from later episodes, but you can throw a boss fight in a video game on design alone. I wonder if they just revisited the first five episodes every time they made a new game in the series.

I see someone has never watched the 1987 series or has only watched about one episode.

The Neutrinos make multiple appearances between seasons 1 - 7 including 2 of my favourite episodes The Grybyx and The Dimension X Story.

One episode even introduces us to the leader of The Neutrinos.

I watched that show all the time as a kid. I skipped work to watch a re-release of the first live action movie. Don't tell me I'm not a fan of TMNT.

The Punk Frogs returned, but I don't recall the Neutrinos ever making a second appearance. I haven't rewatched the entire series in my adulthood, but I did revisit the first three seasons a while back and they didn't show up again during that time. Not unless I blocked it from memory.

Weird. I don't remember this one. It's sandwiched between the episode with the robot police officer and the one where April O'Neil turns into a cat woman. It's possible that I bowed out before episode 43 of Season 3, but I should have caught the return in Season 2.
