It doesn't make much logical sense as a finisher, but it looks cool.

Especially against all the other finishers of that era. The stunner, the pedigree, chokeslam, tombstone, last ride to name a few.

All The Rocks finishers are examples of top level theatrics elevating piece of crap moves. The Rock Bottom is a side slam, the Peoples Elbow is a standing elbow drop, and his Sharpshooter is the worst Sharpshooter of all time.

Rock usually won with the Rock Bottom, especially during the attitude era. The People's Elbow was alternatingly either something he did to pop the crowd once a match as a face or something to get kicked out of if he was a heel

The Rock was a slightly above average wrestler who was huge, good looking, funny, and charismatic... You weren't going to get Matt and Jeff Hardy or Bryan Danielson level moves out of him.

The Styles Clash is the lamest finisher IMO. I am aware that if the one taking it moved their head the opposite way theyre supposed to, its one of the most dangerous moves you can take. But when dime correctly, it just looks incredibly low impact.

I agree. The setup looks really bad a lot of the time (especially with needing to hop the legs over the opponents arms) and the impact to setup needed is a bad ratio.

maybe my memory is false but didnt the peoples elbow typically only beat jobbers? i thought the rock bottom was his actual finisher and he only did the peoples elbow to pop the crowd, and the only time he won with it against a non jobber is if he had already did the rock bottom prior or hit a lot of other offense first

honestly i actually like how he steps over the arms. like yes i get that its nonsensical, they could just move their arms, but if i let kayfabe ferroseed have some say i can appreciate it as "oh man hes making sure they cant block it!" and i kinda love it regardless of how dumb it is

The biggest disrespect the WWE ever paid Bret Hart was in having Stone Cold tap to The Rock's sharpshooter after refusing to tap to the Hitman's. The referee was distracted, so the match continued. But he was tapping out to the sharpshooter in the post-WrestleMania 17 cage match.

Oh yeah. WM17 is still the best PPV theyve ever done though IMO.
