Definitely. Was glad when it looked like we were catching up, and we actually might get fully caught up at this rate what with the hiatus that the series has been under. I don't play them when they're unlocalized, and being fresh off Reverie had me literally being like "KURO NOW". Though that's going to be "DAYBREAK NOW!" until summer.

In any case, after I beat Hajimari I'm gonna do a full replay of the series in anticipation of this. I'm pretty excited.

Like if you havnt played any yet it feels like theres no point in starting. And they rarely go real cheap anyways.

The trails series is one I really want to get into but haven't yet. It's just a huge undertaking even for an JRPG series. These games tend to be very dialogue intensive. With my backlog I can't really start a new series.

I played Trails in the sky part one years ago.

Whenever you do start it, I would recommend staying on PC. They absolutely botched the Zero and Azure ports for PS4 and don't care about fixing them.

wish they'd retire the shitty turn-based combat and just copy the ys action combat onto the trails games

Nah they're ramping up English release speeds since the series has been doing better and better in the West, it'll be 2025 at the latest.

The games are written in a way that playing the previous titles enhance the experience but you could play the sky trilogy, Crossbell or CS and still enjoy them. Reverie does act as an epilogue for Crossbell and CS though.

While starting from the beginning and playing everything is preferred. The beginning of each arc is generally designed as a starting point. You should be able to play this one without prior knowledge and then go back later as time permits.

yeah thats just too long. Good for the few fans who can dedicate that kind of time to it, but this isnt the 90s anymore, there are way too many other games to play to be able to keep up with these games

The issue is that the sky trilogy and the first 2 Cold Steel games are locked to PC still. Everything else is on switch or PS4 which fortunately, the PS5 has BC for.

Unless you have physical copies of CS 1&2 for the PS4.

The series would benefit if those 5 titles were re-released on the Switch and PS4/5 but I imagine it's tricky since XSEED was behind the localization.

I'd play the new Calvard arc but I haven't cared about Reverie because I just got sick of the Rean Arc. I did like the Crosbell one but yeah it is too much. I was forcing myself to finish Cold Steel IV. At least I got the best ending without too much extra work, I guess.

Anyway, I WANT the collector's edition with plushies, but I play these all on PC. I wish they'd release the collector's edition for the Steam version :/

The only thing ever mentioned that I recall is that the president wants older titles to be available on more modern platforms. So if it does happen it's likely the Japanese versions only which is what happened with CS1&2 since those actually are on the switch. Just not in English.

Oh shit didn't know they were still available digitally that's great.

They are all available on the PS4 (Cold Steel at least). Go on sale frequently. That is how I played them all. Sky is the series that is on PC and PSP only.

Yea that's right. I remember buying an older Garghav trilogy game on my PSP ( A Tear for Vermillion) and thinking it was okay and then later Trails 1 and much later looking for a new rpg and thus playing through Cold Steel.

I've only played through it once but I didn't have any performance issues

I remember reading when the PS5 first came out that CS2 would freeze at that part for some reason or just skip the cutscenes altogether. I dunno if it's an issue with the disc copies of the game only but if it works that's great.
