Apparently, a worker there was convicted of child porn and now works at the station and it has some workers uncomfortable and one worker was fired for telling management he was uncomfortable. This shit is crazy.

Weird article. The writer is very preoccupied with ethically justifying the original article they wrote bringing to light the 'situation'. Their argument is that someone on the sex offender registry is monitored by the state for the rest of their life, therefore the person has never 'completed their sentence', so therefore "they served their sentence already" is not a defense for them. IE according to the author if the employee was a murderer but whose sentence was up then the article wouldn't be okay.

That's some wild stuff. I wonder how everyone can work together after all the dirty laundry was aired out.

I'm struggling to see your point or gripe here.

Well because their sentence doesn't really matter to their categorization as a child pornographer, does it? Following the author's logic, if Texas changed its offender registry rules and took this guy off it, it would then be wrong for the author to publish this article and for people who work with the child pornographer to feel uncomfortable. But in reality, people really don't care about a felon's sentence, they care about the crime. It's totally unconvincing that the ethics of exposing the child pornographer worker depends on current Texas offender registry rules. Just own it, or don't publish the article, IMO.

There is nothing ethically wrong with exposing a child pedator. However there's obviously legal reasons why and when you can't do it depending on the state I'm guessing.

Weird thing to get hung up about. The whistleblower and anyone reporting on this are heroes tbqh

The author of the article is the one hung up about it.
