Board 8 > Sony Playstation has the worst customer service I have ever seen

They literally can't do things that Steam and Blizzard and Microsoft and etc etc could do for the past 10 years. Never seen such atrocious customer service.

Basically.

Last night at 230am someone accessed my playstation account and proceeded to add 2SV on it. I got the email of this when I woke up. Went to their website to see what steps to take since I didn't do this.

It said to immediately reset password and then contact customer service. I immediately reset the password and then waited for an hour to talk to their customer service.

They asked me to verify my playstation account with the original playstation serial number I registered for it on.

This was likely well over a decade ago. I gave them the serial numbers to my ps4 and ps5. This wasn't what they wanted. I don't have the prior consoles anymore.

They then proceeded to try and verify my account by the credit card on file or a transaction ID of a recent purchase made online on the service. I told them there are no recent purchases (as there isn't. I buy mostly just physical and totally physical on playstation). I told them I'll give then every single number for every active card I have, but the card on file is likely over a decade old and not an active one anymore I could have the numbers for.

They said this wasn't good enough.

I offered to send the a copy of my ID, passport, or bills in my name to my house to verify my ID. They refused. (This is how steam and blizzard and such verify ids to restore accounts).

They basically said unless I can provide them with information I cannot possibly have, they will not restore it and I will have to make a new account and lose access to all prior stuff from the other account.

They also let someone add 2SV without email verifcation of this being a legit request beforehand.

So, bye bye playstation account.

I've heard this from one or two people too.

A guy I lived with said he had his identity stolen and that they just outright refused to help him regain access to his Sony account with all of his games he purchased on it. And he tried with them for a long while to get it resolved before giving up.

That sucks

Comcast is always going to be the worst when it comes to customer service though

Im assuming that means my kids saved file on spider-man is gone now as well as a ton of other stuff. He won't be thrilled.

Square Enix has pretty bad customer support too from what Ive heard.

That sounds absolutely asinine and frustrating. Who the fuck saves the serial number of a console they already sold?

They should have multiple ways to verify your ID. You pick two of them that apply and you should be good. Don't get what's so hard for companies to understand about this.

Yeah, this sounds like exactly what my old house mate had to go through and he didn't get anywhere. It's really crazy he had an easier time going through his bank and other institutions than he did with Sony. It just doesn't make any sense.

Ps2 I sold a long time ago. I think I gave the ps3 to my exes son. I ain't even bothering to think he still has it or wanting to deal with my ex regarding it.

Blizzard and steam let you use your ID to verify. Idk. And that was 10+ years ago.
