Finished it earlier tonight.

Both sad and bleak, but also hopeful. My interpretation is that the book by Joshua in the epilogue was compiled by Harpocrates from writings of Joshua mentioned in the game. And humanity has survived the Blight and created a society without magick, several centuries after the game.

I believe it is intentional, in a Clive & Joshua reborn kinda way. And who knows, maybe Jill was pregnant when Clive went off to Origin so the kid is some descendent.

I pretty much liked everything in the story *except* the ending lol

I loved the ending a ton. Made me tear up. That montage of Clive and Joshua hit me so very hard in the feels. The music was perfect.

Hit all the right notes. Game started off dark, ended dark. I really like the way the story felt and I hope SE tries this again. BU3 really got it right.

But that ending really hits you in the feels.

I still think Clive is alive and that was him who showed up at the end.

Clive lived. Too much evidence for it.

People are always saying it as if he died and it kills me dude.

His death wouldn't make sense going by the stuff going on from the beginning....it would ruin a lot of the foreshadowing.

Not even sad, just forcefully bleak and ran counter to its own themes. Plus, I hate how it sidelined like 95% of the cast then killed off the rest.

It's like the bad version of FF6's ending.

Yeah, I liked most of the story. The ending reminded me of FFVII's ending how there's a post-credit epilogue with a major time skip that leaves you to wonder what happened after the main story.

It had some gameplay misses, but the story was the best one (not counting FFXIV) since FFX. Really good game.

I like it. Its especially impactful for todays times, where we have problems with the climate and overuse of limited resources.

Nice to see that they were able to live without magic.

I don't think the ending was bleak, at all. It might have been for some characters, but it was absolutely dripping in hope. That sunrise after half the game in clouded darkness, the epilogue, I thought it was a fantastic conclusion to the exact themes the game was going with the entire time. Clive says it best when he says how humans are not afraid of hardships and it will be terrible and awful, but in the end we will find our way and survive. And he gave everyone that future.

I will say that I was expecting a final dungeon, not just a straight teleport to the final battles.

Yeah, I was about to go to bed, and decided to just go to the final area, and save after I got there.

I was like "oh, I guess we're doing all this now"

Yeah, it's nowhere near as abrupt as something like Tales of Arise's ending, but it still had me going, "Oh, I guess that's it. Okay..."
