Cringe stuff like starring in a box office bomb with my Dad because he's rich and influential isn't normal.

This is a family where all of them are privileged to the point where they can do whatever they want. This is why Jaden turns up to his prom dressed as white Batman to make a statement. This is why Jada films 'deep' conversations about her sexual freedom away from her husband. This is why Will Smith walked up on a stage and slapped a comedian who made fun of his wife.

These are people who don't get told no. They don't have to feel shame or embarassment because 99% of the time they don't have to and are often praised by people around them for doing whatever cringe ass thing they're currently doing.

Actually Jada took the joke well. It was Will that overreacted and slapped Chris over it. But she shares some blame for driving Will to that point where he would destroy his career for her.

This is my take.

Will absolutely should not have slapped Chris, but at the same time, it's clear that all the drama involved with their relationship is at least part of the reason he snapped.

It's not like Will was known for acting like this before, so something must have happened to him

I think there could have been a number of reasons for him to go on stage and slap Chris Rock that might not have been Jada's fault, tbh.

maybe he felt guilty about something, maybe he felt tired of people thinking he was soft, or maybe it might have went back to something they argued about, or something else, or a combination of things.
