Honestly, with natural starter bias (that I don't have for this gen only because I beat it exclusively with mons I got from wonder trade) taken into account the top 20 is about as good as it could get. It's missing Wooloo, Rookidee and a few things I like but everyone hates, like Eiscue and Stonjourner, but I couldn't expect for too much better.

Oh nice. That dropped lower than I thought. Fuck that guy and I hope I sabotaged his top 20 place.

I think obstagoon is fine, but he's completely thwarted by his typing, which is simultaneously the perfect typing for a tryhard goober. Normal/dark is like 'whoo blah check me out I'm a badass wa ha ha', and yet the predictable end result is that in an actual fight he gets his ass double kicked

Well, you should be glad that Cinderace isn't yet another Fire/Fighting type. One of the few times the mono-typing is fine given the alternative could have been Fire/Fighting (an overdone starter typing).

Cinderace might've been my #1 if he was Fire/Fighting. The meltdown from the fandom would've been fun. Plus it's honestly a good typing.

Yeah, I know of 2 other rule 34 sites as well. And I couldn't specify which one it was... for obvious reasons.

God, Obstagoon is so fucking cool. Like I know its kind of a tryhard manner of edge, but it's gone straight over to being just plain amazing. The homage to KISS (it is totally intentional I refuse to believe it isn't) is just the cherry on top. Man I fuckng love this guy, just barely out of the top 100 Pokemon (of all time) for me, and even then I kind of find myself second guessing just where it places. Its just that cool!

I have 7 of my top 10 left. Not bad!

Obstagoon might have my favorite shiny of all time. He got a spot in my party because the baby form is cute as hell, and then shockingly the grown up form was also great. I was hoping he'd squeeze in the top 20, but pretty happy with his placement.

it's based on how close you were to the results over the range in From and To, it means that yesterday you were among the closest to the actual placements. having a bunch of top 10s drop in the 30s is actually pretty good btw

Yeah it says I'm sad because I lost a bunch of low placers yesterday 50+ spots from where I had them, but I'm actually happy because they're gone!

Inviso (11) - It's a mount, and it's a cooler Water/Ghost than Jellicent, plus it's pretty tough in combat, so yay.
NFUN (13) - It takes the "wooden art" designs of a few Hisuian Pokemon and works it into an actual, like, flesh creature. It looks great, and the concept is great too
Eddv (16) - Great Evolution
hotdogturtle (17) - I didn't like it until SV came out (and thus it would be ranked much lower if we did this ranking during active gen 8). But it turned out alright in the end.

Big upgrade on Basculin though

I forgot to account for how swag it is to pull off a 360 Pokeball throw off a Basculegion jump or else I would have ranked it higher

Basculegion is my 24th favourite Pokemon of all time! Funny to see I've ranked it the highest, but also I guess this makes sense with how much I love it. Basculin used to be a Pokemon you'd look at and go, "oh it's an ok grumpy little guy, not bad for a first stage. I wonder what it evolves into" and then you learn to your horror that it didn't actually evolve. Unlike the other basic bitch fish in the franchise, there was no potential. Until Arceus! And wow, what a glow up. It takes the aspects of Basculin that had potential, however little they were, and expanded upon them fantastically. Being half ghost type is metal as FUCK too and being a ride Pokemon is another bonus to me. I immediately feel in love with this big fish the moment I laid eyes on its ugly mug.

One of these days I need to pick up Arceus again and keep going for a second shiny so I can have all four colors of Basculegion.

Inviso (2) - Just a really solid starter design, especially for the historically lesser Grass-type.
XIII_Rocks (4) - This isn't a very good generation imo, but the three final starter evolutions are pretty good. Rillaboom is a rare grass-type starter win. It's only the second time out of nine generations that the grass type is the best, and to be honest, Sceptile only narrowly beats Swampert and Blaziken. The gigantamax is cool, the signature move is cool, and just how elaborate it is are all great.
PrinceOfKoopas (7) - Moss Donkey Kong from Super Smash Bros. 64! I wrote a whole KoopaTV article about Rillaboom's potential moveset which would just be what Donkey Kong's is in Smash Bross, but with Pokmon move names. I think it's funny.
DragonGargoyle (11) - Music monsters are peak
Luster Soldier (20) - Our first ever gorilla Pokemon. Surprised it took 8 generations for a Pokemon to be based off the gorilla.
mnk (22) - The best of the evolved Gen VIII starters, but that's not truly saying a lot. He did grow on me over my playthrough, though.
Bane_Of_Despair (41) - I actually warmed up to this one, when first revealed I was kinda meh on it. But now I like the theming of it and the way it has the leaves as hair and the single strand going over its face. A solid final grass evolution starter.
Ermine (70) - Yawn
Paratroopa1 (96) - usually starters are pretty bog-standard inoffensive but then they made this horrible ape with cheeto dust on his face and thats straight to the bottom with you bucko. Just awful to look at
