NFUN (17) - I dislike the fact they made new Regis, but Leki deserves its existence. It's very stupid, of course--it's shaped like a lightbulb and its legs are an outlet--yet it's interesting and fills some kind of niche of "animated energy" that I think needed filling. Rotom is kind of there, but it's more of a take on a poltergeist. And it also makes me laugh to see its speed bar just keep going, and how it hops and prances.
andylt (19) - There's something appealing about a pokemon being pure, concentrated electricity. Wait, is that any different from Rotom? Whatever, this lil thing is speed incarnate.
mnk (28) - This thing is actually pretty cool? Best Regi.
Luster Soldier (32) - Notable for being the new record holder in Speed, beating out Deoxys-Speed as the fastest Pokemon in existence.
Inviso (51) - This is probably my favorite Regi design, but I just don't find the line all that compelling in general.
Paratroopa1 (78) - did the world really need more regis

PrinceOfKoopas (92) - I'd absolutely hate to be trapped in a Thunder Cage, and I'm holding that against it.

I love that regieleki skips around like a little girl and looks like it has two giant-ass pigtails coming off it. I named mine goldilocks. It's pretty alright in vgc too (it was pretty busted last gen)

OrangeCrush980 (3) - Hangry Mode was a really cool gimmick on paper, but transforming every turn is kind of obnoxious. But it's still enough for #3 in this mess of a gen.

Luster Soldier (27) - This Gen 8 Pikachu clone has the closest resemblance to Pikachu out of all the Pikachu clones (not counting Mimikyu). Its gimmick is switching between 2 different forms at the end of every turn in battle, which only affects the typing of the move Aura Wheel. Morpeko is also the first Electric/Dark type, stealing an unused typing that should have actually gone towards Luxray instead.
Bane_Of_Despair (39) - Having a Full Belly and Hangry mode really wins for this one, outside of that it's pretty plain but still fun. Good enough for top 40!
Raka_Putra (45) - Morpeko morpeko morpeko~ Usada Morpeko peko, almondo almondo
hotdogturtle (59) - Technically not even that bad statistically, just not good enough to matter. Also has arguably the best Electric attack in the game.
Inviso (64) - As far as Pikaclones gothis is one of them. I don't think it's the worst, since Dedenne exists, but it's not amazing.
Paratroopa1 (70) - I happen to like a good pikachu clone but I have my limits about how annoying and cutesy they can be
andylt (72) - A very low tier pikaclone.
PrinceOfKoopas (87) - I despise Morpeko because of how it treated Team Rocket in the anime, and it never once did anything productive or useful.
mnk (90) - Worst pika clone. Stupid ugly minion wanna be.

Ugh, Morpeko is one of 3 Pokemon this Gen that I actually genuinely care about...

As mentioned in the previous topic, the concept of the Regis is enough for me to not hate them. Designs kind of boring and that tracks for Eleki too. Though I feel like this one has some quirks in its animation that gives me my attention.

Morpeko's aura wheel and gimmick is cool, but I'm not really super high on it. It's good enough as a Pika clone. Cute as it should be, but it doesn't bring me a spark of joy.

hotdogturtle (1) - Ever since the leaked image when we saw a NPC talk about "half fossils" I hoped that they'd do this concept, so when we finally got the Pokemon they met and surpassed my expectations. Absolutely flawless execution of an incredible idea. This is my favorite of the group but they're close. Speaking of the concept a lot of people always say "yeah I get the joke but..." while clearly demonstrating that they don't get it. I'm predicting that we'll see a few examples of that in the writeups here.
NFUN (2) - The peak of the fossil chimeras. It's a near thing to judge which is more hilariously and gut-wrenchingly fucked up because it and Arctovish, so the tiebreaker goes to it being broken. A 380 power move if he goes first, not even considering type weaknesses, is hilarious and absurd. Somehow this abomination is viable!
hbthebattle (3) - I hope these four don't get immediately shat on, but based on what happened to the UBs...
XIII_Rocks (6) - I love the idea behind these. Weird horrific creations that are like, violations against nature, literally created by a "careless" doctor, is a fantastic idea. A bit like Garbodor - if it disgusts you it is successful. Dracovish is clearly the best because of anime and competitive though.
Paratroopa1 (16) - the absolute balls on the anime writers to make this thing one of ashs featured mons blows my fucking mind
Luster Soldier (38) - Looks more normal than the 2 Arcto fossil Pokemon. The Pokedex claims it can't breathe unless it's underwater, which is the most inaccurate statement made by the Pokedex on any of the Gen 8 fossil Pokemon. Out of all the Gen 8 fossil Pokemon, it was also the most notable one for being competitively viable due to the sheer power of Fishious Rend.
Raka_Putra (38) - How fishious
Inviso (43) - Only ranks this high because Water/Dragon is still relatively rare as a type combo. It's really stupid-looking.
andylt (54) - The most abominable of the abominations. In a way they succeeded the most with this one, because I hate imagining it trying to survive! The Poke-world needs to institute some kinds of laws preventing this evil from happening again.
Ermine (62) - Scientists were paid money in the Pokemon Universe to create these monstrosities. Good to know that I could become a scientist in that world if I'm a fucking moron!
PrinceOfKoopas (90) - Absolute monstrosity in constant suffering. How about I put it out of its misery?
Bane_Of_Despair (92) - The -zolt fossils work better because they at least look goofy in a fun way, these ones are just boring.

Zarude kind of ends up falling into the "why is this mythical" category for me. It looks decent but it just doesn't stick with me. Probably would rank higher if I saw the movie about it. I heard it was okay by Pokemon standards, so maybe I'd appreciate it.

Speaking of Pokemon I'd probably like better if I paid attention to the anime ... I feel like I rated Dracovish a bit too low, but the bottom half of my ranking is such a slurry for me. I'm defo a bigger fan of the Zolts personally so it isn't even that I hate this idea.

People will probably say these are sorta boring. But Velozolt is a pretty swell guy. It would have been neat to have like, the errors as well as the true forms at some point, maybe like a DLC or something.

Currently, I am the only person to have zero Top 20s drop. How long will that last?

Also the designs in that pic are 100x better than what we actually got. Velozolt in particular would almost certainly be top 5 for the gen for me.

Luster Soldier (4) - Super cute Pokemon that I love almost as much as Hatterene. Although Hattrem becomes less cute after evolving into Hatterene, it also gains the Fairy type after evolving along with the design becoming more feminine.

Boring might have been a little harsh but I don't think the vish head is interesting. The combination with the body sure boring might not be the right word but the head is the main thing I focus on with it

Anyway Hattrem is cute. Great glow up from Hatenna for sure. I feel a bit harsh on the first stage because the evolution of this line is really harsh, but eh

Sizzlipede - I can't describe why, but I much prefer Centiskorch to this. Something about this feels... creepy to me. Bleh.

Eternatus - To me, this is probably the most boring final boss Pokemon in the series. I often forget this exists, which is pretty damning for a freaking main legendary.

Eldegoss - I echo my comment about its pre-evo. Kinda cute, inoffensive, but underwhelming.

Duraludon - I think I slightly overrated this. Dragons and dinosaurs are often a slam dunk for me, so I don't hate this, but one that looks like a stapler / pez dispenser / penis is not it. Can't they just make a slightly more normal looking metal dragon?

Arctozolt - Like its compatriots, it's just conceptually morbid and gross.

Barraskewda - For a long time, I felt like this was one of the best fish designs in the series. I've cooled on it slightly, and fish can only go so high (not very), but it's still pretty neat.

Regieleki - Like its dragon-type cousin, this was a very unnecessary addition imo. Not a fan. But I don't hate looking at it, so it manages to place above most of the Pokemon that actively annoy me.

Morpeko - Pikaclones are such a tired trope and this one has no charm to me. Too cylindrical too.

Zarude - I find this one very, very hard to rate. When I look at the design, its backstory and such, it actually has a lot of things I like and feels like a Pokemon I should be really into. It's a cool mon. But... it just doesn't excite me at all for some reason. Somehow, it's just less than the sum of its parts.

Dracovish - The previous fossils I said were awful, but this one has actually grown on me, I have to admit. Maybe its particular brand of goofy charm appeals? Granted, it's still only at #50.

Hattrem - I said I dislike humany mons earlier, but I actually tend to be fairly kind to some of the Gardevoir expys. This is a huge improvement over its pre-evo and is actually pretty cute! But when considering them head-to-head, I couldn't justify putting this above most of my #40s/50s.

Inviso (3) - I like Weavile, Weavile is still better, but a solid new Fighting-type is always a plus for me.

NFUN (55) - Feels a bit like a Mega in that it tried too hard in turning a good thing even cooler. It doesn't fall completely on its face, but it's almost more disappointing that's it's just mediocre instead of a complete embarassment
