Inviso (5) - Generally, I'm not a fan of legendaries over standard Pokemon, but Gen VIII is rough, and Spectrier's a cool horse design.
Luster Soldier (14) - Definitely a much better looking design over its counterpart Glastrier. Also, the weight difference on the 2 horses is extreme, with Glastrier having a stated weight of 1763.7 lbs and Spectrier at only 98.1 lbs.
Bane_Of_Despair (29) - The clear winner of the horses to me, a ghost horse is already cool and making the design with a flowing mane like this and floating hooves is just downright cool.

garbodor and trubbish are both in my top 100 if they are the standard for trashmon than i welcome the trash wholeheartedly....

spectrier is fine. i've already mentioned my horse girl childhood and my love of ghost types so with those two combined it would be extremely hard for this to completely flub and it didn't!

overqwil is the best name of any pokemon ever and yeah okay, the name does carry it a little. you can't just go "there's a pokemon named overqwil?" and not at least want to look it up. it's got one foot in the door so to speak. and luckily, it's got a good colour combination and two types i like (one that i really like). dark/poison is a combination that im surprised isn't done more, as using poisons is often considered cowardly and sneaky for humans anyway. ik with animals it's a different ballpark but c'mon, at least half of these fuckers have one or two human traits.

Inviso (12) - Again, not a huge fan of legendaries, and if this were just single-strike, I wouldn't rank it this high. But giving us a new Water/Fighting-type after we only had KELDEO since Gen I was pretty neat.
Bane_Of_Despair (19) - I haven't actually played the DLC for Sword and Shield, but I do think Urshifu is pretty neat. I much prefer the Single Strike design over the Rapid Strike one, but overall a kung fu bear is cool to have. Just a solid bear to have.

They're slow and generic as fuck in a generation filled with slow, generic Pokemon. And it's especially frustrating because this is one instance where it COULD have been something special and exciting. Instead, nope. Boring, slow octopus design mono-type. It's made worse by the fact that Farfetch'd/Sirfetch'd (which should ALSO not be a mono-type, by the way), still manages to be the far superior Fighting-type in this same generation, which makes Clobbopus/Grapploct even worse by comparison.

Grapploct is worth more than 10 Urshifus combined.

and it's better than Sirfetch'd too.

Inviso (17) - While it doesn't measure up to Scyther or Scizor, Kleavor's still a cool design and a worthwhile addition to Gen VIII as part of Hisui.
Luster Soldier (31) - An alternative evolution of Scyther that is a pretty good design, though not quite as good of a design compared to Scizor. This Rock type counterpart of Scizor has a bit more speed in exchange for less defensive stats and 5 extra points in base Attack.
Raka_Putra (57) - Not as good as others in its line
mnk (58) - A definite downgrade compared to Scizor.
PrinceOfKoopas (68) - It's too much of a try-hard.
andylt (71) - Worse than Scyther and Scizor, and a boring type to boot.
Paratroopa1 (76) - looks a lot better from the side than the front. Idk maybe Im being harsh on these hisuian dudes but theyre all kinda ugly

I didn't rank this because I forgot, but Clobbopus is an adorable little octopus with boxing gloves and I assumed it would do quite well!

Again, it's not JUST the typing. It's how boring the typing is in conjunction with how useless it is since it's so goddamn slow. I specifically brought a Grapploct with me to fight Piers, who is a Dark-type gym leader, and Grapploct STILL got KOed before the end of the gym battle because he was constantly getting hit with chip damage. That just shouldn't be happening by the late game. Early game, sure, because you don't have the strongest moves. But late game? No, absolutely not.

God I hate Sword/Shield's Pokemon across the board. Even the ones I like for their designs are fuckin' lame to use in-game.

Oh wow, in hindsight I ranked Clobbopus way too low. It is pretty cute, but I'm not big on the color scheme.

in a gen with Sirfetchd, you cant be a pure fighting type and expect to not slip through my mental cracks. youre just getting outshone too hard.

The vast difference in popularity was apparent when I saw a picture of a Japanese Pokemon Center with like a full shelf of Zamazenta plushies, while the Zacian plushies were almost totally cleaned out. hotdogturtle (44) - I bought Shield because at the time I liked Zamazenta better. Then Zacian turned out to be one of the best Pokemon in the game and also looks better than Zamazenta in both forms. Whoops.
Inviso (55) - This is a far worse design than Zacian, and I'm always going to be against tanks in comparison to pure attackers.
andylt (58) - Christ this thing looks bad without its shield. Still silly with it, and Zacian has a better colour pallette, but yeah. I dislike that they made the cover legendaries so similar.

This is true and I didn't even think about it. If they evolved Clobbopus and made it a puncher or something (gave it the elemental punches and whatnot), I might think more fondly of it. Grapploct's movepool is dire in Sw/Sh.

'Metal elephant' is the best reason for something to be slow this side of a slothmon.
