Things like Airbnb do account for some level of lower housing supply, but it's not much and shouldn't be where most people focus on. More focus should be on increasing housing supply by building more housing.

Yes, housing prices are currently high. But many people have houses prior to now.

I did not say or mean to imply that 300k would buy a house outright now. I said it would pay off the mortgage of most people. Do you think most homeowners even in high cost of living states, people who have had their houses for many years, have a mortgage over like 500k?

It certainly helps. But that money runs out really quick, and the bulk of it goes towards things that do not improve or maintain your quality of life.

It's easy to argue from your side when you never had to venture outside your bubble, but these are the sad state of affairs in this country. You denying it over and over again doesn't make it less real.
