I got a content warning for using a celebrity's name. Blocks fictional characters too, and some brands. Why does it flag it like I'm trying to generate something offensive or illegal? I just want to make funny pictures.

To be honest Im surprised they didnt go straight for child exploitation material. Unless they did and the AI was already built to reject such prompts.

Shame because day 1 was so much fun.

If you know the prompts that it tends to block, and you can think of similar prompts to circumvent it then you dont get blocked as much.

Sometimes you can use celebs by speaking of a character they played instead of their real names. There are some celebs it's okay to use, usually long dead ones.

It got filtered to shit just like any other AI engine after coming out for a while.

If it's ran/created by OpenAI, and I assume it is, then they're going to ram the censorship hard.

This isn't the first nor the last. It's impressive what AI is capable of, but when a percentage of it is trying to lobotomize itself due to "what if" of any variation it actually detracts/ruins everything else as it has less training to pull from. This is literally how we ended up with shit like "thrusting a sword into infantry" being recognized as child porn. There's been improvements since that mess, but this shows how daft the filters can truely be. Same AI company too, as they wouldn't even allow fantasy violence in a fantasy setting, like fighting off goblins in a dungeon.

*The AI saw infant and thrusting, so it assumed it's sexual. So everyone loses, because someone had to ruin it.

As for why it's blocking celebrities and real names, it kinda makes sense as they probably want to avoid "likeness" issues. Anything cutesy like that green gal, it's probably seeing nudity in its training data and flipping out.

I blame American values for blocking thongs.

Also apparently anything starting with the phrase "Japanese girl" is blocked. But Korean, Chinese, Indonesian, malaysian, black, white, italian ect is fine.

I've gotten some stuff with "Japanese woman".

AI draws from existing material on the internet, right? It could be that the phrase "Japanese girl" triggers lolicon imagery whereas "Japanese woman" does not. And they aren't able to, or don't want to be bothered with, rigging the algorithm to exclude such imagery in its searches.

Intentional or not, it's pretty racist to block Japanese girl as a search. But that might be the reason why.

I've kinda given up on it. I just want some fart jokes but keeps blocking it.

And unfortunately, the walled gardens are the ones with the resources to create such powerful AI tools. It'll probably be a long time before open-source models catch up, and by then, the closed-source ones will have advanced even more.

It's perfectly reasonable to block the use of real people, copyrighted characters, and brands. Same with offensive, violent, or pornographic material.

People cannot be trusted with that much power. Especially not with a product endorsed by Microsoft.

I was late to the train on this. Even if I get a prompt through it's pretty much always says the results are blocked. Even for pretty tame prompts

Someday the locks will be thrown off, we are going to have to be used to ai generated content that pushes the boundries.

Maybe the next technology needed is something to keep it in check like a program which can verify if something is AI generated or not.

right, but we're not talking about drawings, we're talking about mass-produced AI reproductions of copyrighted material. A piece of AI artwork is not a drawing in the traditional sense.

That's definitely a major issue as well, and in my opinion it's the biggest issue with AI artwork in general.

It also makes a ton of sense not to allow copyrighted stuff because, even if it's covered by fanart stipulations and such (which it should be, I'm not saying it's illegal), then the creators of the AI or even Microsoft (the hosts of this portal) might be held accountable as if they were the ones who created the artwork specifically.

So even though fanart is legal, it might be different if, say, McDonald's sees that Microsoft is facilitating the creation of images that depict Ronald McDonald snorting cocaine or doing something much worse.

There are other AI programs out there which aren't so heavily moderated and people constantly use them to create pornography and shock material that doesn't really need to be encouraged by major companies lol
