I'm just going to say....Lee acted poorly but, she's not the only one. Its a long established" Custom" for voice actors to ask previous actors of the roles that its ok to take over and it seems that Anairis did not do this for Lee...that looks rather poorly.

Also, everyone acting like a bunch of high schoolers trolling each other is just disappointing all around.

Muscle is pretty obviously trolling, at this point.

This custom, if real, is nonsense and disregarding a stupid tradition does not reflect poorly on a person.

Gonna need a citation on that "custom", because while it's a thing they do sometimes do, it's also not something they have to do or that they do every time.

Lee is in the wrong here, end of. Anairis did nothing wrong.

Also the culture of suicide, and its intersection with the work ethic. When I was there, they had just recently started playing soft symphony music and bird sounds in the subway. Our guide told us it was to deter people from jumping onto the tracks.

Also, the concept of depression does not support it being biological in Japan. There is therapy, and they will simply suggest changing your work or lifestyle habits (and some have suggested working more instead of less), but to imply that it's a chemical imbalance instead of being related to external triggers is taboo.

I saw Drive My Car in the theaters and it was fantastic so I don't know which video Robo watched to convince him that one subtitle take is better than another.

Hell, the central setting of the main part of the movie is a production of a crack localization of the Russian play Uncle Vanya, where every actor speaks a different language.

Localization is beautiful and an art of itself. Pissing on it just rubs me the wrong way.

I saw it in the theater and bought the home release which had a different subtitle track that was approved by Hamaguchi himself. Don't know why you think people can't learn Japanese themselves and make their own decisions. Why are you mentioning a video?

Ultimately you can hate localization all day and that's your right. You can want better localization and that's your right too.

But pretending modern localization isn't proper unless it's been approved by the original creator is gatekeeping.

YuYu Hakusho is objectively better in the dub because of localization.

The more street or casual a script needs to be, the more a good localization is clutch.

Anime typically has shit scripts with people talking in inorganic ways, so it goes unnoticed.

As long as they are not edited I prefer the dub over the sub. Because I speak English and TV shows are meant to be listened to not read. It would be like listening to a book on tape. Why? I read books.

But hey to each your own.

When hearing audio with created names and places. I can only think how is that spelled and miss some dialogue trying to know that.
