It's basically social media with a finite amount of content. If I browse something like reddit I get sucked in and waste more time than I'm comfortable with. Here, I spend 20 minutes reading updates on a handful of boards and then leave because I'm all caught up.

it's slow enough that i don't feel overwhelmed, and there's not very many people here so you always tend to know who you're talking to which feels more comfortable over talking to random strangers you you probably will never ever see again

Just out of habit I guess. It's been like 25 years. It's also one of the few gaming communities that still have a strong appreciation for classic gaming. If you go into a Reddit thread that discusses the best games of all time, you get so much modern garbage >_>

Been here 20 years, so its a habit now. That and its one of the only real genuine social outlets I have. I dont really use Facebook or Twitter, and interacting with Reddit people is just off putting.
