im pretty sure totk would run fine on my pc. ive already played bg3 and it wasn't exactly the smoothest experience in some areas. would drop to the 50s fps in the swamp area in act 1. act 3 would prob be sub 30 fps. this was at like 1440p and mostly high settings (i had it 4k dlss quality which is like native 1440p but looks much better imo).

Sure, and in a utopian future where Nintendo stop being such control freaks and release their games on PC so I no longer have to buy their shitty hardware to play them, that would be a valid argument.

Im not counting emulation, as if youre a PC gamer and have the technical know how to dump your Switch NAND and games etc. and make them run better than the Switch can run them, you should be comfortable modding BG3 etc. and probably not phased by most of this in either direction.

didnt realize totk on pc requires 13th gen intel and 4th gen ryzen for consistent 60 fps in the worse areas. that is super fucked to me. i forget that totk wasnt on the wii u

On top of this, what else is there to talk about it? The plot sucked, nothing really happened in the game. Hell even the devs didn't have a good answer when asked wtf happened to all the sheikah stuff that randomly disappeared.

It's really no surprise the game was forgotten.

This really makes what Hogwarts Legacy even more impressive. Not even an actual controversy could make people give a shit about that game after 2 weeks.

And what drops? The only time I ever had any was when using Ultrahand is super dense situations (lots of enemies, fire/explosions going off, general battle chaos), and it's noticable, but hardly brings the game to a crawl. This is just lame whataboutism.

Im used to gaming at 144 FPS, so 60 is garbage to me, but anything that dips below 30 which both BotW and TotK do very frequently is absolutely intolerable. Hell, you can emulate both games better than the Switch can natively run them, albeit with the need of stupidly new hardware to do it in the latter case.

There's no proof it has, and what little we have suggests BG3 isn't anywhere close.

Stats for either game are murky right now. There have been no official figures for TotK since June 30, a little over a month after the game came out, which cites the 15.5M sale mark (which is insane to do that in weeks). So we don't have sales data for 4 months since then, meaning it surpassing the 20M mark wouldn't be out of the question. Apparently, it's credited for moving 4M Switch units after it came out, which is nuts for a system 6.5 years old.

Meanwhile, the closest thing to "for sure" sales of BG3 is just over the 5M mark, on the PC. 1 tracker is suggesting it could as high as 20 million, and a few others are saying around 10M. No real figures for the PS5 can be found, but if the last official stat for the PC is 5M, it's not hard to imagine the PS5 sales being pedestrian in comparison.

So no, it doesn't appear BG3 has surpassed, or is even really close to TotK sales. Not really surprising, given the relatively unknown nature of the game until it dropped and hype helped boost it.
