Because BotW did something new, while TotK greatly refined what BotW started. Similar to Mario Galaxy vs Mario Galaxy 2, but like Galaxy 2, TotK is the better game.

there is no monoculture for anything that isnt online multiplayer stuff anymore. entertainment is more ephemeral than it ever has been because there is now just too much of it and we dont have the attention span for it

Hardly. BOTW broke the internet. Next to PUBG, Fortnite & Elden Ring, it has to be the most hyped up game I can think of in recent memory. A gigantic internet event that everyone and thier mama was playing. ToTK was practically done the moment BG 3 dropped. Adios, Sayonara, Goodbye: ToTK May 2023 - Aug 2023.

I am 100% right. TotK runs sub 30 FPS on its native hardware, with more frequent dips than even BotW, which had a lot of them, and that is by definition garbage.

tbh i dont think bg3 could run on the nintendo switch at all

im pretty sure totk would run fine on my pc. ive already played bg3 and it wasn't exactly the smoothest experience in some areas. would drop to the 50s fps in the swamp area in act 1. act 3 would prob be sub 30 fps. this was at like 1440p and mostly high settings (i had it 4k dlss quality which is like native 1440p but looks much better imo).

my pc is 5 years old tho.

edit: oh shit nevermind. looks like totk requires 13th gen intel cpu or 4th gen ryzen for solid 60 fps on pc. i didn't realize it was so demanding lmao. omfg that's fucked

TotK runs poorly with bad textures & constant frame drops on the switch, but it doesn't crash a lot or have a severe amount of bugs like act 3 of BG3 does.
