Sorry for cutting it close and only getting the topic up like 10 minutes before the episode started, I was dealing with some internet issues and only just got them fixed. Anyways, This is the 4th of 5 play-in tournaments in this side series, with 8 more bots competing for a spot in the Tournament of Champions.

IT'S ROBOT FIGHTIN' TIME! The show leads off with Banshee vs. Cobalt, and Cobalt gets the win, but Banshee rather surprisingly survived the full three minutes to a judge's decision. Cobalt's new driver wasn't quite as aggressive as Dave Moulds used to be on the sticks.

After last week's slugfest had zero fights go to the judges, this week we start with two in a row and Jackpot gets the nod over Big Dill this time.

Answer: Of course it did... but only partially. They killed their own weapon, but were actually sort of mobile at the end of the fight, while Emulsifier had their weapon active but severely hampered mobility. It went to the judges, and they gave the fight to Emulsifier.

That was good.

Shredderator needs to retire. Cobalt's new driver needs more time with the bot.

Jackpot deserved that win. Very effective minibot.

This is one of the few instances where I don't love the engagement rule. Like, it feels like Shredderator gets punished for being more operational and not running into the face of a bot that can only pivot. It just gives an advantage to a bot like Emulsifier, when I feel like they should be more penalized for being functionally immobile.

4 judge's decisions in a row in the first round, followed by Cobalt destroying Emulsifier and Jackpot winning one of the best and closest fights I've seen in this whole Champions season over Lucky. It had great hits, it had a close comeback at the end, it even had a minibot actually being effective for once!

On a side note, I saw someone on 4chan refer to BattleBots as "vegan cock fighting" and it made me laugh.

HOLY SHIT! All it took was one shot from Jackpot's weapon (with the assist from what might be the best minibot performance in BattleBots history) to hit Cobalt's battery, light it ablaze, and punch a ticket to the Tournament of Champions! That was one hell of a finale to this episode.

Especially since Emulsifier had their back against the corner, so Shredderator couldn't really get around to their back even if they wanted to, their only option was to just go straight into that huge weapon. Really felt like a lose-lose situation for them.
